How do i connect my dell laptop to Sumsung TV?

i have HDMI cable, tried to connect it to sumsung TV.but it kept on saying driver error. i guess maybe i need to dawnload the proper driver? i don't know. my laptop(dell inspiron 1525) keeps on shuting dawn.

i kind of worked at first, i mean i saw my desktop background on the TVbut just the background and nothing on the desktop.so please help.what should i do??

    you need to use a VGA cable, thats what i use anyway and it works fine

    laptop to tv s video cable

    If In Your tv hdmi cable Then You can connect via dvi to hdmi cable

    Otherwise Vga to rca cable

    In input options on tv, choose hdmi mode.

    when you first plugged it in it was working correctly it extends your monitor as a default setting so all your icons would be on your laptop screen and you drag over windows media player / web browser on the other screen
