Sad is all I can say.. I grew up with many of these soaps and will really miss them. Also I hate what they are replacing them with. No way will I be watching ABC once they are gone..

I'm not pleased about letting go of my dinner time tradition.

For AMC, I thought this was their best year ever. I liked the addition of realistic out door scenery. The writing was better & the stories were improving. AMC was more about the people, not the action and that's exactly what I want when I'm eating dinner. (Not realistic surgeries & faux vomit scenes.)

Now that it's going away, I'm glad that the writers are letting us say goodbye to some of the old characters. I would not like this Orpheus Project story if the show was continuing b/c it's such a fantastical turn. But I do like it as long as the show is ending. I'm finding that it really helps w/ closure after decades of growing fond of these characters. I don't mind suspending reality for a few more weeks just so that I can "say goodbye." It's the only remaining reason that I don't completely hate ABC for this bad move. Soaps were the only genre that gave viewers a chance to get into some real character development in stories. I'll miss that. And I'm not switching to other soaps b/c why get involved if this is the demise of the genre.

I'm really sad OLTL is cancelled, it's usually very intersting. And my other show, Y&R has sucked lately so I'm really going to miss OLTL. It's wrong of ABC to cancel it and even worse that DOOL is still on NBC!! The genre doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I'm sad, but not surprised. The genre has never garnered much respect from those outside of it, because of its association with housewives and the misogynistic stereotypes about "women's entertainment." I think Brain Frons has been trying to find a reason to cut out soaps from ABC Daytime for years. They could have saved the shows, the bottom line is that they didn't want to.

    sad but resigned

-I wish the networks would have been willing to chose other options like reduce the shows back to 30 minutes like they were when I started to watch them- that would save money and the soaps

more publicity and respect to the Genre and it's Fans would have helped too

UK soaps do well in the ratings because they are on in the Early Evenings and treated more like Prime time Dramas than a sub genre- usa soap networks should have tried to sell their soaps in the evenings instead of the daytime
