Where in the Bible does it say that we go to either Heaven or Hell when we die?

Where in the Bible does it say that we go to either Heaven or Hell when we die?

Please tell me the book, chapter and verse. I don't want your opinion or your Sunday school teacher's opinion or your grandmother's opinion. I want page numbers.

If you can answer mt question, I promise to read it. If you can't answer my question, please sit this one out.

Update:

(3 days later) Thank you for all your careful responses. What you have shown is that the story of going to heaven or hell is not literally stated in the bible. Your varying interpretations of the book of Revelations are most amusing. None of them are literal statements of where people like you an I go when we die.

    The Thousand Years

1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They[a] had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

    The Judgment of Satan

7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

    The Judgment of the Dead

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

In the book of Revelation we read in chapter 20 and 21 that whosoever's name is not found written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. This takes place at the Great White Throne Judgment, only the unsaved will be judged here. Re heaven, we read "in my Father's house are many mansions and I go there to prepare a place for you, if it were not so I would have told you".

You might find it interesting to know that from the very beginning with our first human parents Adam and Eve what God told them would be the consequence if they took of the fruit from the tree that God told them was off limits. If there ever was a good time to tell them that they where going to burn for eternity if they disobeyed, don't you agree that this would have been it? Here is what the Bible say's would happen. Genesis 2:17  But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

No where did he say you would go to heaven if they didn't eat or hell if they did. They would simply go back to the ground. Genesis 3:19  In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”

However there are a number of scripture that talk about a selected number of people going to heaven to rule as kings and priest. One of those scriptures can be found below.

Revelation 14:3  And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth.

Also this link can provide many other scriptures that discuss heaven and the original hope of living forever on earth. Here is one of my favorites.

Psalms 37:11  But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

Revelation 7-- it numbers the little flock as 144,000 that go to heaven--- The great crowd recieves this promise from Jesus-- happy are the meek for they will inherit the earth-- also in Psalms it teaches--the righteous will possess the earth and reside forever upon it. The hebrew word sheol= the greek word hades--Both translate the common grave of mankind-- there is no literal hell. only religions that do not know God or his son teach such a sadistic thing about him. They even throw Jesus words away about inheriting the earth and teach heaven or hell- they dont have a clue.

Do recall when Christ was hanging on the cross there was a thief hanging on either side of Him.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, (not them) Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Go to google.
