    well the problem says Negative three times a number n plus four equals two times the number n minus 6. Find the number. SO CONFUSED!

    Based on your additional details, I re-write it as:

    -3 n + 4 = 2 n - 6

    Then 2 n + 3 n = 4 + 6

    5 n = 10

    n = 10 / 5

    n = 2

    Good luck!

    first, sq. the two facets to get rid of the sq. root. you get: [sqrt(5x + 6) + 3]^2 = [sqrt(3x + 3) + 4]^2 the priority then turns into: 5x + 6 + 9 = 3x + 3 + sixteen, that would properly be simplified to 2x = 4 divide by using 2 and you get x = 2.

    I am sorry but your expression is unclear.

    Can you re-write it to clarify what's going on between the -3x and n terms? Is there an addition, subtraction, or what??

    Regards!

    -3x+4=2x-6

    -3x+3x+4=2x+3x-6

    4=5x-6

    4+6=5x-6+6

    10=5x

    2=x
