    The number of digits on each page - assuming that there are none in the text - depends on the page number.

    Pages 1 to 9 have i digit per page, or a total of 9 digits

    Pages 10 to 99 have 2 digits per page, or a total of 180 digits

    So there are 1128 - 189 = 939 digits on the remaining pages, ie 313 pages starting from page 100.

    The number of the final page will therefore be 412.

    1128? as usually a book contains words and the only numbers are the page numbers.

    If you assume that no numbers appear in the book/story, then there are 1128 pages.
