Yes, but not as dramatic as yours! Mine looked at me and then got up and started barking at the walls. She stopped when the house stopped shaking, although she did need to go out and do some business shortly therafter.
When I took her out, it seemed as though practically every dog in the neighborhood was also out! LOL Most of their owners were texting while walking (cell phones were iffy her for about half hour).

I live in California and not once in any of our earthquakes have my animals acted strange.
The most recent big one of 6.7 in 1994 I was actually on the telephone with the ER vet getting
permission to give more meds to my dog. I had just hung up at 4:30 AM when it hit. All my animals -all 13 house dogs and 6 cats were sound asleep until it hit. I live only 23 miles from the epicenter of that quake and my house felt like a boat in rough seas! 5.8 is mild by CA standards.
I really did laugh out loud when I read they evacuated the Pentagon etc.....seems a bit of over reaction.
The only thing I have noticed since I have owned birds is that they will be skittish in their cages after a quake for a little bit.
Everyone else is not phased.
ADD: I am so glad I am not the only one who think the east coast over reacted over this little quake.

The East Coast didn't over exaggerate, @UHave2BeKiddingMe... We are not as used to earthquakes as California is, obviously!

Animals can sense earthquakes and dangerous storms they were probably afraid and wanted to get out of there

I live in California, the earthquake state and my dogs and my horses usually notice the earthquakes we have that are larger than 4. My horse will freeze before we feel it , then gallop as it is going on.My dogs just bark.

I'm in Brooklyn, NY and didn't feel a thing. I guess I mistook it for a subway train vibration.
