What r your skills? listen to 3 songs, like a stone for a slow and smooth pace, classico by tenacious D for a semi-complicated cheery tune, and finally annies song by john denver.
Which guitar tune catches your inspirado.
If its # 1 then try more somber easy to sing while play, if its # 2 then try more like irish pub/dropkick murphy sounds. and # 3 means you are a source 4 emotional inspirado.

i dont play a instrument but i did ask a question on music... then i saw this question and i thought i try and help you out :).
well... are you enjoying playing the gutair... my brother plays gutair and bass :S... he has been playing for about 3 years i think?... or longer but at 1st he was really bad but he did get really good i have to say.
My brother teached me abit of how to play gutair... i did do it for a while till i got bored (gutair aint really my thing, i let the perfessionals do it ^_^... i used to do keyboards till i got bored... but i do vocals now (singing).
so inconclusion... it doees take time, you dont exspect to be shreding 1st time. The thing is aswell... when you start playing your fingers tips actually get harder, so you can play longer without your tips of the fingers hurting after plus the whole finger it self gets stronger cause my fingers ached at 1st.
I do martial arts... i wasnt good at 1st, time and practise... i made it :)
hoped this helped and good luck
