about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

there's only one hope for depression. That is an effective anti depressant medication. Depression comes from a checmical imbalance in the neurotransmitters and the brain and nothing in the world will alleviate unless you compensate for it. The right medication will do it. When you're depressed, you're unable to interact with a therapist by talking or be with or around anyone so talk therapy won't work. Being around people is a waste because the loss of interest makes it difficult to tolerate company and again, verbal interaction. You will have no desire for pets or taking care of animals as it's too labor intensive, too complex and your mind can't handle it. Excercise requires motivation which you have none. Until you can compensate for the chemical imbalance that's causing the depression and anxiety, none of these suggestions are useful.. Once you regain your sense of motivation and desire to do things, only then can any interaction or activity possibly help feel good..

There are ssri's, snri's mao inhibitors and trycyclic anti depressants. Some work better than others depending on the individdual. It is frustrating until you find one that works well with tolerable side effects. If none of these are ever an option, try ect (shock therapy)l

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

    Hey guys,

Depression is so much more common than we even realize or know. I know I, myself have struggled with this too. I used to think it was just something that I as “born” with, so like many, I went through therapy, took anti-depressants, and found myself to be even more unhappy. Not so much with therapy, more with the meds. Over time, I started to feel again and the waves of emotion were intense! The doctor just wanted to increase my dose and I realized that I had been numb, so I decided enough was enough. The depression got worse, as expected, but then I made some big changes and I no longer feel depression and that imbalance anymore.

Here are some the things I did:

    Continued with some therapy

Kept a journal for my thoughts and feelings

Exercised regularly, even if it was a brisk walk

Ate healthier food and stayed away from fast food and sugar (most of the time)

Mediated and listened to relaxing music

Worked on creating a hobby and using my talent

Helped other people (helps take your mind off things and reminds you that you’re not the only person in need)

As you can see, it takes work. There is no fast solution, but I believe it’s possible to overcome (or eleviate) it with some work and effort on our part. I feel like a much different person today, and I have some useful tools to draw on now. I still keep working on a lot of the above because it keeps me consistent and track.

Depression takes time to get rid off. Thinking positive is hard and sometimes when we confine In people we feel that much more alone due to them not fully understanding. I believe the best way to be happy is to find inner peace and know every thing is temp good things and bad. That's how life is. You only live once, and you know how this life is. Who really knows if the after life is better. Could be way worse. Try to focus on something that makes you happy or even try getting a pet, but talking to someone may even help.

My take on depression. This answer is NOT going to work for everyone, for sure, but if it helps just one of you, that would be great!

Freud said it, Jennifer Melfi said it to Tony Soprano when he was down in his dumps, I also read it in Rolling Stone; thus it’s true. Depression is anger turned inward. The deeper the depression, the stronger the self-rage. It’s a simple matter with a simple solution – the only cure for depression is to do what it is that makes you happy. Depression, self-anger, self-loathing, whatever fancy term you give it, depression is an absence of happiness. All people want is to be happy. They say they want money, they want love, they want a big house, they want to live in certain city, they want a new car, they want a better job, they want more sex; all they want these things for is that these things will make them happy. That is the ultimate goal. Depression is lack of happiness, plain and simple. You can swallow all the psychotropic drugs and depression reducing/alleviating pills you want, and spend all the hours you can on the professional couch, but that will only to serve to tamp it down, to block the symptoms, to broom your feelings, needs, wants, desires and emotions under the rug. The cure is simple - If you want to lose the depression, just do what makes you happy. Wait… Not so simple, right? Right. The main problem is that most people don’t possess the guts to do what will make them happy, so they suffer through mounting depression thinking they are missing out on something. They are afraid to go against the spouse, or disobey the parent, or quit the crummy job, or leave the town in where they dislike living. They are weak. They are depressed because they are mad at themselves for not having the guts to do whatever it is that will make them happy. When they finally figure this out, do they take control back and do what pleases them? Some do, yes, and then the door opens up for improvement. But most don’t, most just get even angrier at themselves over their lack of guts and recede ever further, deeper into a low and debaucherous sink of depression, thinking there is no way out. But there is. Just do it! That is all there is, so just do it…

No problem, thanks for asking this question about depression! Not many people have the courage to even ask for help. Depression can affect a person emotionally, behaviorally, and physically. Depression can last several weeks to several years. Remember, depression is treatable. It can also, precede suicide. There are a couple things that you can do. This includes making an appointment to see a therapist or even reestablishing contact with a family member or friend.
