I would change some things.
> Feed SEVEN (7) times a week
> Give only what is eaten in about 15 SECONDS (never in 2 minutes)
> Don't change 50% of the water at least a week (too much)
> Do 10-25% water changes WEEKLY (not every day)
> Cover? Try a hood... As long as there is at least an inch of non-water space above the tank, you're good for oxygen
> Betta bulbs aren't required
> DON'T do a 100% water changes (never do 100% water changes)
> No salt needed
> I recommend making your pellets soft in water before feeding
> Have lots of decorations in general (no sharp edges from plants or decor)
Basic betta information: (sums things up for you)
Minimum tank size: 5+ gallons
Feed: Daily, 2-3 times a day (15 seconds each feeding)
Water temperature: 75-78F
Filter current: Low - Medium
Food: Flakes, pellets (bloodworms as a treat)

You should never change all the water. 25% water changes a week only.
You need to buy the five gallon aquarium, filter it and add the heater, ornaments, plants etc and let it cycle for six weeks. Learn more about this here: http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/articles_51/fishless-...
I also suggest adding some plants as they make betta's feel more secure. It is almost certain he will lay on them.

there are distinctive fish that could stay luckily with bettas -- in the event that they have sufficient area. And a 5 gallon tank is barely too small. that's no longer lots approximately aggression as basically residing section. they are going to be overcrowded, that could deliver forth combating yet in addition to illnesses, infections, and shortened lifespans, to no longer element out greater advantageous artwork for you in protecting their water clean with diverse bodies in there to foul it up. Why do no longer you enable your betta have his section and ward off money for a great larger tank? :)

That's about it but you should remember to cycle the tank before you put the betta in. You can also get some betta toys if you feel that your betta has become a bit bored.
