Hahaha, I remember watching an interview with a young Dakota Fanning, I think it was, and she said that she couldn't watch her own movies--most of them being rated R--because she's not old enough. I suppose if her parents had approved and were with her during the viewing, it would not have posed a problem.

Well first of all, a minor who is taking part in an R rated movie must first have parental consent and sign a wavier/contract. Next, with the law being that a minor under 18 cannot see a rated R movie without a parent or guardian over the age of 21, at the red carpet premiere, all minors must be accompanied by a parent. Also, I heard somewhere that in an R rated movie, there can't be a minor without a speaking role. All child actors and actresses that are under the age of 18 have to have a speaking role...I forget where I heard that...

Quick answer is No, they can't. And think about it, just because you see them in an R-rated movie doesn't mean they acted in any R-rated scenes. Editing and CGI can go a long way.
