peace treaty between egypt and israel?

for some reason the egyptians in this section say that egypt should cancel the peace treaty between israel and egypt.

does it mean that they want to give Sinai back to israel, and remove all egyptian citizens from there?

after all, the treaty was that we give them Sinai, and they do not attack us.

what do you think the international court will say about it?

In principle your supposition is correct, but both Egypt and Israel don't need another war. What every in the region needs is the opportunity to live in peace.Look at You Tube and see what peace and prosperity have brought to Israel.Israel enjoys a standard of living much higher than any other nation in the region. It is a world leader in technology,it has absorbed 800,000 Jewish refugees from the Arab world. All this has happened from 1948 when it declared its independence while the Arabs living in the rest of mandated Palestine refused the same offer by the United Nations. The result was one of tragedies of recent history.Jordan and Egypt occupied what could have been a Palestinian state, and 800,000 people became unwanted refugees in the countries of their diaspora.Israel was almost destroyed by a concerted attack by Egypt,Syria Iraq and the British equipped and trained Arab Legion under brig gen Glubb.Israel and Egypt fought two more wars until the peace treaty.Never again

Sadly, you give us no choice but to feel that we should cancel the treaty.

What do you expect when you kill our soldiers on our border? If Israeli soldiers were killed by Egyptian forces on the border what do you think you would have done?

Isn't that a clear violation of the treaty?

What the treaty has done is give Israel a guarantee that they can kill as many Palestinians as they want, build as many illegal settlements as they want, declare war on whomever they want knowing that there won't be any kind of resistance from any Arab country whatsoever.

Who knows what the International court will do? Sometimes, it seems like they don't even care or follow their own rules.

But, if Egypt truly breaks it, I don't think that Israel will want the Sinai back. Sure, it's a nice tourist spot, but they really don't want that heart break again, and should really focus elsewhere. They might demand some sort of compensation in lieu of it, or point out that they are still giving peace a chance (hell, you'd think they'll stop, since they've been trying for 63 years) by not taking it back.

In any case, Israel won't miss a beat in treating the situation seriously.

If you cared about the International Court's opinion, you'd of already taking down the wall on the West Bank.

You won't get Sinai back without war, and this Egyptian military isn't the underequipped, poorly trained one of the 50', 60' and 70's. They have the 4th most F-16's in the World, AH-64's and loads of Abrams, which by the way are superior to the Israeli Merkava.

Y.K. Cherson says" What the International Court would say is of minor importance." This seems typical of Israel thinking and yet they are members of this organisation who helped make the rules which they say is of minor importance . If Israel have no regard or respect of the rules of the UN is it now time they resign or even removed from that world club.?

  • The treaty also included that Israel withdraws from the Palestinian West Bank+Gaza and recognizes the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and guaranteeing a self-governing authority that replaces Israel's military rule within a period of five years, but Israel also never respected that part of the CD accord. A deal is a deal so Israel can't have it both ways.

No, on the contrary, they want to use Sinai as the ground for the future attack on Israel.

If our leaders were not fools, we should never give Sinai back. I read the memoirs of the people who participated in the talks between Israel and Egypt in 1979, when Saddat came to Israel to ask for peace in exchange for the return of the at least a small part of the Sinai. He desperately needed this and he was ready to accept even the smallest concession which the propaganda of Egypt would afterwards pass for the "greatest victory"( Egyptians are unbeatable in presenting the crushing defeats and humiliations as the "glorious victory". The best example is the Yom Kippur war).

And all of a sudden the Israeli delegation offered Saddat ALL the Sinai. Saddat after this just sat mute for two minutes and looked at Israelis. And then he asked what he must do for this. When Israelis answered that the onlycondition was the signing of the peace treaty and leaving Sinai demilitarized, he just could not believe this and went on insisting what he had to do for this.

It was the unpardonable stupidity on the part of the "shalom" crazy Israeli leftist leaders.

What the International Court would say is of minor importance. The treaties are supported not by the International courts and signed papers but by the balance of force. If Israel makes it clear that Egypt

will suffer the humiliation of the defat again - Egypt will never attack. If Egypt decides it has chances to beat Israel - it will attack even if all hte UN and Inrternational Courts of all the world will condemn them for this. The history is written by the victors.

One should be as stupid as the Israeli leftists to win all the wars - and let the defeated arabs put the terms of peace.
