    1/. is the assosciative property of addition.

    2/. As 1 2/7 = 9/7, this is the multiplicative inverse property.

    in view that A is bounded, there exists a quantity M > 0 such that |x| <= M for all x in A. in view that B is bounded, there exists a quantity N > 0 such that |x| <= N for all x in B. For any x in A U B, all of us understand that x is in A or x is in B. If x is in A then x <= M. in view that N > 0 all of us understand that M < M + N so x < M + N. If x is in B, then x <= N. in view that M > 0 all of us understand that N < M + N so x < M + N. In the two situations, x < M + N so A U B is bounded above. comparable argument applies for bounded under. subsequently, A U B is bounded.
