I registered very late Day 1 and I just got mine yesterday night. I think that it counts what time you register, not the day. Note that the americans were sleeping when the first few clues came out but not when the next set of clues came out so it would not be fair to make it first come first serve by day. So, I think they did it by how early you registered on any day.

I received my welcome letter yesterday, though I registered on the 1st day (although just minutes before it closed).
From what I read around, "first come first serve" won't be used, as they would try to include people who signed up on the other days as well (though only those who registered fast), because they think some of the people from the other days might be able to give a much better feedback of the Beta Version than some of the ones who got in on the first day.
Just be patient, there are just 83,709 enrolled people in Pottermore at the moment. :)

I registered on Day 2 as well, and I haven't got a Welcome email. But lots of people who have registered on later days have got their Welcome email and finished loads of chapters on Pottermore already :L My friend has and she won't stop bragging about it (it's so tempting to strangle her). So it's not being sent out on a first come first served basis, which I think it should. I find it really unfair >.< Anyone else feel that way?? :(

So far, the order they send that email appears to be random. It definitely has nothing to do with what day you got in, as people from all days have gotten their emails. No one knows specific dates, as Pottermore has not released any information on how they are sending out their emails. The only official information is that everyone who successfully registered during the Magic Quill Promotion will get their email between now and the end of September. Everything else that you hear is fan speculation, nothing more, so don't pin your hopes completely on any of those! For the only OFFICIAL information, consult the pottermore insider blog (http://insider.pottermore.com/), the "help" section of pottermore (https://www.pottermore.com/en/help), or the Pottermore twitter account (http://twitter.com/#!/pottermore).
My theory is that entry is based on what language and country you put when registering. Since the point of early entry into the beta site is to test what works and what doesn't, it seems normal that they would want to get people from all over. I asked a question concerning this theory, so you could get some more information from the answers there:

Pottermore has recently started announcing when they send out a new batch of welcome emails--keep an eye on the Pottermore Insider and their twitter feed (see the links above), they'll post when they send out new emails. That way you don't have to be blindly refreshing your email: you'll know when they've send them out. So far, they’ve been sending out one batch a day, except on weekends.
If you want to hear about the experience on pottermore, look around on Y!A (search for "Pottermore") or google....loads of people who have been sharing their experiences. Also, a lot of people have put up screenshots of their houses/wands! (:
Sorry I can't give you any specific dates ): Also remember that nothing a fan says that hasn't been confirmed on one of the three above links is merely speculation and may not be true--though it could be right!
Good luck with your pottermore account, I hope we all get our emails soon!

Me too I haven't got it yet :/ And they are not sending the emails on a first come first serve basis, rather they are doing it randomly...so we may as well have to wait till the end of September :/
Edit- I registered on Day 3

i registered on the first day within the first ten minutes. and i just got my email on the 25th of august.
although i agree that it shoulda been done on a first come first serve basis, it was done completely randomly to make it "fair" to all time zones.
