What's the best thing for energy?

Ok so I exercise regularly and I eat ok, not great but certainly not too bad, and I usually get enough sleep but of course I'm still tired when I wake up like everyone else. Anyway I'm looking for something that will give me an energy boost for the afternoon. Energy drinks don't do it, neither does candy, energy bars, pasta, 5 hour energy, or sodas. My sister makes really strong coffee (and don't worry I'm 17 so I'm plenty old enough to drink it) and that certainly does the trick. I'm really just wondering if there's something I missed that might be better or just as good, but no supplement or anything like that. (Not that supplements necessarily give you energy anyway, I really don't know, I'm just asking for normal things). What do you think?

    A proper nights sleep and a multivitamin .

    apples can give you even more energy than coffee! they are much more effective at waking you up in the morning, and give good energy

    B vitamins can help. You can get a liquid form that you hold under your tongue for 30 seconds then swallow. They help me get through the day.
