  • Any ideas what I did to my arm?

Yesterday morning I banged my forearm into a metal bed frame pretty hard. I didn't think too much of it at first, I was busy and it didn't hurt that bad although it was swollen and slightly bruised. Then in the afternoon it started to hurt pretty badly and went slightly numb. I iced it last night and its basically feels the same today as yesterday afternoon, although its slightly more painful but less numb. I feel like it can't be broken because I can still make a fist, bear weight on it, and rotate it with some pain. I do have some trouble moving my hand down, but I can still do it. I've broken bones in the past, although not my arm, and I was generally unable to move the injured limb or if I could move it it was only with a lot of pain. So maybe I just bruised it badly, I'm not sure.

  • First time ever flying and tips for Spirit Airlines?

So I'm very excited to be flying for the first time, but I'm also a bit clueless. I'm flying from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa for work. It's a one way trip because I'll be driving back with a friend and I'll only be gone about 4 days. Anyway, I really don't know how to check in or any of that. I know not to bring anything that could be considered a weapon but some websites said that I can bring a disposable razor as long as it has a safety cover, also what happens with my earrings and bracelets? I know I should arrive early but how do I check in and all that. I bought the bare fare so I can bring a free carry on and I guess I want to know how to avoid any extra charges that spirit is notorious for. The flight is only an hour so I'm not concerned with food or entertainment, I'm planning to bring an empty water bottle to fill after I go through security and maybe a book. And if there are any items that I shouldn't bring that I might not think about let me know. I'm really just looking for tips for the flight any advice would be appreciated.

  • Free fun things to do?

So we live in Ft. Lauderdale FL and we're bored. I know most of you want to tell us to go to the beach but its not sunny enough out to tan and well we don't want to. Anyway we don't really have tons of money to spend so we're looking for something free or at least in the $10 and under range. Any ideas would be helpful. =]

  • What Should my sister do (boyfriend wants a transvestite)?

So my sister discovered that the boyfriend she has been living with for two years is basically gay. He left his facebook open and she discovered messages in which he bad mouthed her and asked to see a past girlfriend for a date. The worst messages were those asking about a transvestite escort which he has apparently been with before. He basically wants someone who looks like a girl but has a penis. She left his house but has yet to confront him. The thing is she's not a jealous overbearing girlfriend so its not like she's forced him to this or anything and she actually thought she might marry the guy one day. In my meetings with him he seemed entirely straight and normal and he's in his mid 20s so this cannot just be some sort of weird phase. Do you consider him gay and what should he do?

  • Where can I get a plastic collar for a cat?

My cat has a pretty big cut on her ear (I think its from a fight). It wasn't that bad initially (it happened three days ago) but she scratches it and tears it open constantly. I've been putting peroxide on it, which annoys her, but I'm planning to get neosporin instead so she can't get it off so easy (would that be good or is there something better?) We might have to take her to a vet if it doesn't get better but I'd like to try a plastic collar first I just don't know where to get one (and of course I'll keep her inside while she has the collar on). Any suggestions on where to get the collar (except online) or how I should treat her injury would be greatly appreciated cause it's pretty bad.

  • Should I buy this leotard?

I want it for gymnastics and I really like it but I already have a lot of other leotards but most of them aren't purchased new like this one but it's $50. Plus I feel like since its Christmas soon I shouldn't spend that kind of money on myself but I like it.

  • Is replacing a computer's hard drive worth it?

My cat was nice enough to knock my computer onto the tile floor smashing is open and ruining the hard drive. I still love him, but anyway the computer itself was fixable but the hard drive, (which of course is unfortunately the most important part) is ruined. I was wondering if its worth it to replace the hard drive or if it would be better to just buy another computer. If its better to replace the hard drive how much would it cost?

  • My cat ate something bad and I don't know what to do.?

My cat just came in from outside and she has like mucus and spit all around her mouth. She's kinda freaked and and breathing heavy and she's trying to get something out of her mouth. We looked in her mouth but didn't see anything and we can't get her to drink. She gagged and tried to throw up but nothing came out. I'm not sure what it is but there's obviously a problem and I don't know what to do.

  • Is it legal to lock your kids out of the house?

My parents are divorced I'm 17 and a week ago I came home from school (walking 2.5 miles in the hot Florida sun mind you) and my mother wasn't home and refused to let me inside when I called her. I usually get in and out using the garage door we hardly ever use the front door. The garage door has a code on it but my mother had changed it and refused to tell me what the new code was. That's how she refused to let me in. She said she'd be home soon. Anyway I called my dad and he told me I should call the cops because its not legal to refuse entrance to someone living in your house. So I did and when the cop finally showed up he pretty much said it was perfectly acceptable to do this. I didn't go into the whole walking from school and possible heat stoke thing cause I could tell he didn't care. So I went back to sitting on the porch and waiting. A little while later my neighbor brought me water which I was really thankful for. Anyway my mothers "soon" ended up being an hour and eighteen minutes, I know I'm weird to have it timed exactly but what else are you supposed to do when you're trapped outside? She still won't give me the code or a key and she actually gave our spare key away. I feel really degraded too cause her boyfriend (who does not live with us) is allowed full entrance to the house, but me, her own daughter gets purposely locked outside. It's worse that I don't even want to live with her but that's beside the point. So is it legal?

  • What's the best thing for energy?

Ok so I exercise regularly and I eat ok, not great but certainly not too bad, and I usually get enough sleep but of course I'm still tired when I wake up like everyone else. Anyway I'm looking for something that will give me an energy boost for the afternoon. Energy drinks don't do it, neither does candy, energy bars, pasta, 5 hour energy, or sodas. My sister makes really strong coffee (and don't worry I'm 17 so I'm plenty old enough to drink it) and that certainly does the trick. I'm really just wondering if there's something I missed that might be better or just as good, but no supplement or anything like that. (Not that supplements necessarily give you energy anyway, I really don't know, I'm just asking for normal things). What do you think?

  • The Lonely Soul of Yahoo Answers?

I'm quite bored and lonely here all alone except for my dog, two cats, hedgehog, bunny, and dove. I know that quite a few creatures but I've been without human contact for the entire day I can't bring the dove in cause the cats will eat her, plus she's really sweet, but she thinks of the house as her personal toilet and I really don't feel like cleaning up after her. The bunny feels the same way plus she really doesn't want to play with me she just wants to run around. The hedgehog is antisocial and the cats are asleep, which leaves me with the dog who is also asleep but would be happy to do something if I woke her up. I've watched TV and been on the computer most of the day and TV is incredibly boring since we don't have cable anymore. I played a few video games but got bored. I played with the dog and gave her a bath at around 4:30, other than that my day has been uneventful. I guess I'm lucky that there's no junk food in the house because if there was I would have devoured it all by now. So here I am, The Lonely Soul of Yahoo Answers waiting for any tips on ways to entertain myself, and playing in traffic isn't even an option because there is no traffic. So please, help the lonely soul. =(

  • I have a fever and I think I have tonsillitis what should I do about it?

I woke up on friday with a really bad fever and of course I was freezing cold and my whole body hurt. I ended up having a headache most of the day but it wasn't excruciating pain or anything, and I had some foot pain near my heel. My back was also hurting a lot my upper back hurt a little but it was mostly my lower back. I wasn't real concerned about the back pain because my lower back has been hurting for about a month (probably from gymnastics), but my joints were all hurting and I felt worse than I ever have with a fever. I had trouble sleeping that night and woke up every 1-3 hours. At #am I gave up on trying to sleep and took a bath to see if that would help, which it didn't, but I did manage to kill 40 minutes. I finally went to sleep at around 5:30 or 6:00. When I woke up on Saturday I felt somewhat better. I wasn't freezing and I only stayed under blankets or wore long sleeves about half the time, but I also had new symptoms. My back pain had worsened but it had moved primarily to my upper back, and then instead of back pain I got pain on the back of my right shoulder. The shoulder pain was very sharp and painful and would come and go. My throat was also hurting some and my taste buds were off but I had a bit of an appetite (which was not the case of Friday) and I had a mild earache. Another thing (probably the worst) was the headaches. They were downright horrible (and I do have a pretty high pain tolerance). Every time I got up the head aches would get really bad, so bad that I would hold the sides of my head. The head aches were a little less severe if I got up slower, but not much and my neck started to hurt too, even from just turning my head and my foot pain from Friday had worsened. The sore throat got progressively worse throughout the day till it hurt to swallow and the joint pain was still there, and my joints were cracking more than usual (which they did on Friday too btw). By 8pm I was getting awful pain just from speaking and if I said more than a few words It would get so bad that I'd cover my mouth immediately after cause it hurt so bad. (Not sure why covering my mouth helped but it did.) Around 11 I could feel mucus developing in my throat. At around 1:30 am I showered and afterward I coughed up the mucus which was extremely disgusting. It was really thick, thick enough that I could have picked it up if I had wanted to, which I did not. It also looked like it had some blood in it, not a lot but I could definitely see red, it was thin though like ribbons, which seems strange to me. My throat felt a Little better after the mucus incident but it still feels like its being slashed by razors. I looked in my mouth and my tonsils look pretty swollen and red, I tried to take a pic for you guys but I was not successful, so I guess you'll just have to live with my description. You didn't really want to see that anyway, did you? I can't sleep again tonight, I knew it was hopeless so I gave up after an hour of trying. I am a little tired and I certainly would like to sleep but it just doesn't seem to be working. So far none of the symptoms have really changed since Saturday and my throat has never hurt like this before, although I often have pain swallowing when I'm sick, but its never been this painful. I did some research and found out I have pretty much all the symptoms of tonsillitis. If you actually read this whole thing, you're highly awesome. =] Sorry it was so long. Anyway its almost 5am and I'm waiting for some good answers. What do you think it is and what should I do about it, oh and any tips on how to get to sleep would be great?

I made myself throw up for a week and then stopped doing it for about a week and a half I did it again today (stupid I know) but I'm planning to stop so I don't die =] anyway I got have a sore at the corner of my mouth from it and I was wondering if there's any good things I can do to make it go away. • Will my dentist know I was purging?

Ok so I purged for a week. For about three days I did it 2-3 times and the rest of the time I only did it once a day. I know its stupid and damaging and when I realized how many problems it can really cause I decided it wasn't worth it. I stopped doing it about a week and a half ago but I go to the dentist in ten days. I don't think the dentist will notice since I only did it for a very short time but I'm not positive and I'd like to hear what you guys think.

  • Are toothpaste and mouthwash really necessary?

I read that toothpaste really doesn't do our teeth any good and that it can actually damage teeth. I also read that mouthwash can actually lead to teeth falling out because it destroys gum tissue. Is this true and if it is why do dentists use both toothpaste and mouthwash to clean our teeth and encourage use to do the same? One more thing, I also read that fluoride is bad for teeth yet dentists put this on our teeth as well. I'd really like to hear an answer from a dentists opinion

  • Dog Aggression Training PLEASE HELP?

I have a 5 year old flat coated retriever (Harley). She is very well behaved around us, and other people, knows lots of tricks, and, for the most part, listens well. She's been an angel her whole life and (even though she didn't have much interaction with other dogs) had a few canine friends. In the past few months, however, I have noticed disturbing changes. She is still an angel around us and our friends and doesn't care is we're near her food when she eats (unless its our cats cause they try to eat her food) or anything like that. Lately she has been attacking other dogs. At first we assumed it was territorial; another dog came in our yard so she fought it, understandable. Then she saw the neighbors dog across the street and ran into their yard to attack it, which was when we realized there was a problem. The worst thing was today. My 15 month old cousin was over (Emily). Harley has never had interaction with small children much less babies (I'm the youngest and I was 12 when we got Harley as a 3 month old puppy) but we figured she'd bark and then get over it. We gave Harley a rawhide after some initial barking to keep her quiet so she wouldn't scare the baby, Harley seemed to relax so we let her be and figured it was fine. Emily followed Harley all around the house and Harley started giving slight growls at her (that should've been a warning). We ended up bringing Emily to a different room so she wouldn't bother the dog. A little while later Emily was walking in the kitchen and Harley came out of the adjacent room and baked feroicously in Emily's face and looked like she was gonna bite her. Emily started crying of course and was picked up and Harley was instantly told she was a bad dog and crated and since she kept barking and scaring Emily she was moved outside. I have to say, I think the reson Harley did that to Emily was because she didn't know what Emily was and viewed her more as an intruder or something cause she always fine with new people, but Emily is so little and Harley has never seen anthying like her. I also think Harley's attacts are fear related because she did have a bad experience with dogs attacting HER (nothing serious requiring a vet or anthying but I'm sure it was still traumatic to Harley). Also, she has always been afarid of other dogs in the neighborhood (there are lots) which meant she couldn't be taken on walks till after her first birthday because it took so long to break her of that fear. She still does get a little nervous on walks when she sees other dogs but not near everytime and nothing like before. I thought we had kinda broken her of that fear but I guess not cause it looks like now shes expressing it aggressively. What I need help with now is training her to stop acting like she did today, she is my angel and I expect her to behave as such. I need to know how to teach her to respect other dogs and certainly babies. PLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAASE help. thanks =] oh and sorry I wrote so much I felt it was necessary to explain the whole situation.

  • Is my arm broken (excuse also needed)?

Ok so last night I started hitting my arm using a hammer but primarily my fist. Of course it's swollen and there's an enormous bruise but, for the most part, it still has full range of motion, although naturally it hurts when I move it. It also hurts if I pick up anything that weighs more than about 12 ounces. Anyway I've had broken bones before (by accident) and I know that it cannot be a complete break, but it could be a hairline fracture or something. So my plan is to wear short sleeves and see what my mom says but I'm not announcing to her that I did it so I need an excuse, and something other than "I fell in the shower".

  • how to get over the flu fast (or as quickly as possible)?

ok so this is a little different from my actual question I got the flu like a week ago and now it seems to be back (not cool). I don't have a runny nose or a cough this time I'm just achy and I have a sore throat and earlier my chest started hurting (like a stabbing pain) and even moving hurt it. Anyway I'm just wondering if any of the things I mentioned could be connected (I don't usually experience stabbing chest pain when I get the flu or any other time for that matter). I'm also thinking I could have some other type of infection or something like that. Regardless of the cause (let me know if you think its something other than the flu) how can I get rid of these symptoms (obviously drink fluids and rest oh and my chest seems fine now the pain went away about 5 minutes after it started). I'd really like to be better by monday (that probably won't happen but I'm hopeful); I have gymnastics practice and I missed an entire week the last time I was sick (about a week ago) and I really hate missing =( So thanks for reading this whole thing and I'm desperate so give me whatever advice you have, thanks

oh and remember I'm desperate people =(
