I have a fever and I think I have tonsillitis what should I do about it?
I woke up on friday with a really bad fever and of course I was freezing cold and my whole body hurt. I ended up having a headache most of the day but it wasn't excruciating pain or anything, and I had some foot pain near my heel. My back was also hurting a lot my upper back hurt a little but it was mostly my lower back. I wasn't real concerned about the back pain because my lower back has been hurting for about a month (probably from gymnastics), but my joints were all hurting and I felt worse than I ever have with a fever. I had trouble sleeping that night and woke up every 1-3 hours. At #am I gave up on trying to sleep and took a bath to see if that would help, which it didn't, but I did manage to kill 40 minutes. I finally went to sleep at around 5:30 or 6:00. When I woke up on Saturday I felt somewhat better. I wasn't freezing and I only stayed under blankets or wore long sleeves about half the time, but I also had new symptoms. My back pain had worsened but it had moved primarily to my upper back, and then instead of back pain I got pain on the back of my right shoulder. The shoulder pain was very sharp and painful and would come and go. My throat was also hurting some and my taste buds were off but I had a bit of an appetite (which was not the case of Friday) and I had a mild earache. Another thing (probably the worst) was the headaches. They were downright horrible (and I do have a pretty high pain tolerance). Every time I got up the head aches would get really bad, so bad that I would hold the sides of my head. The head aches were a little less severe if I got up slower, but not much and my neck started to hurt too, even from just turning my head and my foot pain from Friday had worsened. The sore throat got progressively worse throughout the day till it hurt to swallow and the joint pain was still there, and my joints were cracking more than usual (which they did on Friday too btw). By 8pm I was getting awful pain just from speaking and if I said more than a few words It would get so bad that I'd cover my mouth immediately after cause it hurt so bad. (Not sure why covering my mouth helped but it did.) Around 11 I could feel mucus developing in my throat. At around 1:30 am I showered and afterward I coughed up the mucus which was extremely disgusting. It was really thick, thick enough that I could have picked it up if I had wanted to, which I did not. It also looked like it had some blood in it, not a lot but I could definitely see red, it was thin though like ribbons, which seems strange to me. My throat felt a Little better after the mucus incident but it still feels like its being slashed by razors. I looked in my mouth and my tonsils look pretty swollen and red, I tried to take a pic for you guys but I was not successful, so I guess you'll just have to live with my description. You didn't really want to see that anyway, did you? I can't sleep again tonight, I knew it was hopeless so I gave up after an hour of trying. I am a little tired and I certainly would like to sleep but it just doesn't seem to be working. So far none of the symptoms have really changed since Saturday and my throat has never hurt like this before, although I often have pain swallowing when I'm sick, but its never been this painful. I did some research and found out I have pretty much all the symptoms of tonsillitis. If you actually read this whole thing, you're highly awesome. =] Sorry it was so long. Anyway its almost 5am and I'm waiting for some good answers. What do you think it is and what should I do about it, oh and any tips on how to get to sleep would be great?

You should see a doctor. But in the meantime, I would urge you to try out the following alternative treatment which can only help and will not hurt. Make a 'godzilla' apparatus. This involves a 6V lantern battery, a couple feet of wire and a couple cellulose sponges and rubber bands or electrician's tape.
The idea is to connect the two terminals to the two sponges via the wire. Some people will wrap the wire around the tines of a fork and stick the fork into the sponge. Sponges should be moist to conduct electricity.
Then you place the two sponges on opposite sides of your neck so that the mild current runs through the infected area. Do this for 5-10 minutes and then switch the sponges so that the current runs the other way. Do this 2-3 times a day.
The idea is to electrocute the germs or viruses. 6V is not traumatic to the human body, but germs and viruses can not tolerate the trillions of electrons you are sending through them. This treatment is good for any infection, whether it is bacterial or viral. Some think it can even help with warts, which is a virus, but this takes awhile.
This has worked effectively on spot infections including boils. This treatment also effectively treats bug bites, spider bites, sake bites and even poison ivy. The electricity changes the structure of the bite venom proteins and the poison ivy bumps to a form which does not cause allergic reaction in the body.
Thus treatment has even been helpful for arthritic or injured joints, seems to spur more rapid healing.
Cautions. Do NOT use more than 6V. Do NOT use on open wounds. skin slows down electric current and an open sore or wound WILL conduct electricity 700 times more efficiently.... so caution is warranted. Do NOT leave on for really long periods of time as you can get a burn on the skin. This is why we recommend reversing the polarity every now and then. Do NOT run the electricity so it passes through your brain tissue.... who knows what would happen? Maybe nothing but I don't want to try it and find out my brain is fried.
But don't let any of this keep you from seeing a doctor.

Yes you can get tonsillitis more than once and sometimes depending on how often you get the infection in a year, people end up having to get their tonsils out but if this is only the second time you have had it i doubt that will be the case for you. Also the difference between tonsillitis and mono is that with mono you have to have a blood test to confirm it. So if you have a doctors appt. I would suggest to them that you are nervous about that. Antibiotics are sometimes the cure if it is found to be a bacterial infection but most times it is caused by a virus so antibiotics will not help. Hope this helps, feel better
