Will my Toshiba DVD player be able to connect to my original TV remote?

I have bought a Toshiba DVD Player and the model is SD-170EKB2, I have a LCD TV Model: 37LG30**, could I connect my ORIGINAL TV remote to the DVD player?

Any help will be appreciated

    Your television has a universal remote which has the capability of controlling other brands of VCR's, DVD players, and set top boxes. From information that I got online the remote programming information should be on page 124 of your owner's manual.
