how to grow plants from bulbs?

I have planted several different bulbs in pots this year leaving the bulbs in the pot until the foliage has withered and died. Now when I have replanted the pots with new plants for the late summer what do I do with the bulbs I have removed from the pots. Some have several smaller bulbs attached and some have a whole cluster. Do I simply replant these bulbs when the time comes and can I separate the bulbs and grow 2,3 or 4 plants from the original single bulb .Or is it better to buy new bulbs and compost last years bulbs.I am really really new to this and even the most basic gardening books do not explain things clearly. My usual gardening involves plants that grow flower and can be cut down to ground level once the leaves fall off and regrow the following year and trees that just need the occasional wayward branch removing.I suffered a serious accident a couple of years ago which left me with some brain damage so please be as simple and exact with instructions Thanks in advance for your answers

Brush off dirt and put in a paper bag. Do not wash them. Store in a dry dark place, like closet or basement.

In spring separate bulbs. Plant small ones 5 inches deep. Plant large ones 8 inches deep.

    It is that simple.

The original bulb is spent after blooming. The small bulbs attached can be replanted but they won't bloom until they get bigger in about 2 or three years. Gladiola forms a large bulb replacing the old one, which can bloom the next year. To help it grow you should add bone meal to your soil when you plant or some kind of bulb food. Different bulbs need special care. I suggest that you Google each type of bulb by name. You should get specific instructions for each. To get better results, buying new fresh bulbs each year is the preferred way to go. However, if you have space and time, it is easy to grow your own. It just takes more time to get them big enough to bloom. Good luck.

One bulb, one plant, one pot. 2 bulbs, 2 plants, 2 pots

Totally up to you. Buy new, or not. Either works

if the bulbs are still intact (ie:not diseased looking) then you can either seal them in a ziploc bag and put them into the fridge till spring, or (my method) just plant them right now in a spot where you want them. They will in fact yield more plants every year (my lilies always double the plants).

bulbs are so easy yo grow.... just plant some in the garden anytime of the year, ''besides winter'' and they will come up every year! just forget about them and they will do fine.
