Is there an over the counter aspirin for HBP?

I was taking Amlodipine for it. But since being laid off work and cancelled healthcare, when I DO have a blood pressure "flare up", which aspirin is best?

I had an entire answer written for you and it got deleted. Norvasc is the brand name of the med you are taking. It's not used as needed, it's managed on a daily basis.

Aspirin, 2 baby aspirin can be taken daily, but is not for HTN-hypertension, though you wrote HBP. 1 adult (325mg) Aspirin can be chewed if sx of a heart attack are occurring, you'll know, they don't stop.

I know, blip on my ekg from snow shoveling a few years ago.

Niacin is an otc med used for BP management. I don't know the dose and there are new formulas that don't have the side effect of the niacin flush/redness.

You really need a NP/PA or MD to manage your BP. If your BP causes other health conditions, you may want to consider applying for SSDI/Medicare or Medicaid . Aspirin is the same, salicylic acid, generic, store brands, all the same, some are coated, Ecotrin. Aspirin is absorbed directly from the stomach. If it smells like vinegar, it's old, that's all, don't take it. It's cheap enough to buy at WM.

if you were laid off work and had health insurance, you should be covered until the end of the month or longer and should be offered Cobra, which is full cost.

You can try your community health clinic to moniter your blood pressure, which is also known as a silent disease, because symptoms show up later, stroke, MI, and kidney damage. You can try the Pharmaceutical company directly for assistance with meds or see if the MD has sample meds available or look at Walmart's $4.00 and $10.00 , 30 and 90 Rx . Do you have any VA benefits? If you were in the military, they will prioritize your level of care/copay if no current benefits. www.va.gov if it applies.

You can online www.pparx.org, tell them the med you need and they will direct you to a site re Rx savings cards, but I think these cards discount on the full cost of the med.

Good luck, hope you find another job soon and don't have to stress about your health.
