How do you use the nCr and nPr buttons on a 2-line calculator?

I thought I would enter the first number, push nCr or nPr, then the second number. It gives me a "math error" and so does pushing it first then the numbers separated by a comma. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm, are you entering the larger or smaller number first? If you are trying to determine lotto odds you enter 48, nCr, 8, unless you are in RPN mode in which case you'd type 48, hit [enter], type 8, press [nCr]

In mocrosoft math, combination and permutation are functions, you press the key or type the word, enter one number, enter comma, enter second number, close parens and continue or just press enter when all you are going to do is close parens.

    combination(48, 6)
