I admire your goal. I think a book about a child's first school experience -- leaving Mommy -- would be very helpful to a lot of families. Maybe a book about caring for a pet would be fun too. Good luck!

Please tell me you're trolling. It damages my already-battered faith in humanity to believe that there are people who genuinely think like this.
If you don't know what to write about, don't write. It's that simple. The ideas are the author's responsibility, just as much as the words. Once you've written a few stories, you'll realise that the ideas are the easy part. Write because you have a story to tell, not because you want to have written a story.
Just so you can't report me for not answering the question... write about an anglepoise lamp who has to go on a quest to rescue a Tiffany lamp from the clutches of a psychotic duck. The way you make the story appeal to adults as well is to put in lots of sexual innuendo that will go over the kids' heads.

Maybe you should think about the book you want to write, instead of just thinking about writing a book. A book has to be based on YOUR ideas.
