nuclear engineering salary?

ok so im a junior in high school and i want to be a nuclear engineer but i also want a job that pays not necessaraly a lot but still more than enough, my brother(hes 29 and is an RN for those who think he wont know what hes talking about at all) told me that nuclear engineers graduates get paid 50 and said sure that you get paid 120 but after 14 years of expierience and college which he says isnt worth it and tells me to be a pharmacist instead since they get paid more, is that really how much they are paid? or is it more? most sites ive looked this up on said it does start at 50 but it also said that pharmacist are paid 60 which doesnt seem too much of a difference, since it has a much larger difference after a couple years, and should i change career plans? what would you do?

I'm a baby nuclear engineer, and thus very new in the field. The starting salaries I was offered (fresh out of college, with merely a B.S.) were 70-80k. Chemical engineers have always been said to make the highest average salary (around 90k) of engineers, but nuclear engineers have recently topped them out into the six figure range. If you're a certified SRO (senior reactor operator) at a moderately sized plant, that's nearly $200,000 a year. And if you want to take the medical side of nuke, then it sky rockets again.

This surge is because companies are losing waves of their nuclear engineers due to retirement. Nuclear energy took a blow in the 70s and 80s in the eyes of public opinion, and people quit pursuing it as a career. Now the number of available jobs is far higher than sudents coming out with nuclear engineering degrees. There's really no telling how long this will last. But it's awesome subject material, and probably far more interesting than pharmaceuticals. :) Don't change your plans.

    Nuclear Engineer Salary

Hi. I am a grade 12 student in Ontario, Canada. I want to be a nuclear engineer but a friend told me that the nuclear industry is going to collapse because no one trusts nuclear power. The websites i looked up gave me different answers so i am confused now about where i should go. I was thinking of petroleum engineering if nuclear gives up on me. So how are the job rates looking for people who want to go into nuclear engineering? Is is high? Will it stay high? How much do nuclear engineers get paid? These are the questions i have. If someone can answer them it would be a big help. Thank you!!!

Be what you want. Why's he a RN? Why didnt HE become a pharmacist? Pharmacist make more than Registered Nurses. A LOT more. Go with what you want. Makes sense.
