Do you think the President's request for Sept 7 speech was for political purposes?

He now retreated but I do believe that it was a calculated effort to steal viewers from the Sept 7 Republican debate. A super majority of Obama's efforts so far were for political reasons.

What's your take on it?

Yep, of course he did. The Obama administration are a bunch of childish Mob style punks. That's how they act.

No, because the election is a year and a half away and few people are that interested in the primaries. We can't arrange our lives around the likes of Bachman, Perry and Mitt. They are on television every day as it is. I think Americas infrastructure and putting 9 million people back to work is the most important thing at this point in time. And the fact that this republican congress blew off this important meeting for a republican primary debate is an abomination. Americans should come before politics, but that is just my opinion. Rush seems to be advising Boehner. A depressant drug addict has more influence over congress than the president has- that is scary.

    Probably.

My take is that the people who would want to watch the Republican debate would probably record Obama's speech, and vice versa.

It's ridiculous to think that people can only have one viewing option at a time these days.

It's also in dispute as to when Boehner was notified of this. This is the first time in history--ever in the entire history of the US--that the Speaker has not granted the request. There is a distressing level of disrespect for the office. I don't care what you think about the man, you respect the office.

As Richard Wolfe pointed out tonight, Democrats absolutely hated Bush, especially during his second term, but at the same time they *always* respected the presidency when it came to these kinds of ceremonial moments.

Of course it was ! Everything Obama does is for political deviation ! Why didn`t he schedule his "speech" at 8 PM on September the 6th at 8 PM ? The Republican debate has been scheduled for months on September 7th at 8 PM ; way before Obama scheduled his "speech" in one day for the exact same day and time !! When asked when Obama would be making his speech , Obama`s press secretary said in a press conference on Monday that they hadn`t designated a day or time "yet" !! ### Here`s another example of Obama thug politics while raiding the Gibson Guitar Compnay ? Report: ***Gibson Competitor is "Democrat" Donor; and Uses the exact Same Wood as Gibson ,yet Experienced No Federal Raids ###

One of Gibson’s leading competitors is C.F. Martin & Company. The C.E.O., Chris Martin IV, is a long-time Democratic supporter, with $35,400 in contributions to Democratic candidates and the DNC over the past couple of elections (though, to be fair, he did donate a whopping $750 to Republican Congressmen in the 90s.) According to C.F. Martin’s catalog, several of their guitars contain “East Indian Rosewood.” In case you were wondering, that is the exact same wood in at least ten of Gibson’s guitars.

If true, it add another piece to an increasingly disturbing Obama puzzle.

    Cowards all.

Obama forced Boehner to schedule him as the lead-in to Football Season, guaranteeing the President a larger audience. It was political and it was brilliant and it means the Republicans have to record the Game now because of Boehner!

Of course it was - until the press started brow-beating white house spokesman Carney - about the obvious calculated time, knowing well in advance the debate had already been planned for some time.

I think it is a shame that the republicans would show such disrespect for the office of the presidency. Republicans wonder why washington is dysfunctional these days. Its because the basic respect for the institution has eroded, Republicans hate Obama to such a degree it colors their perception of the office.

    Obviously it was.

Watch White House Press Secretary Jay Carney smirk while he answers this question:

Yes, and, like a lot of what obongo does, it totally backfired on him. Anybody who knows anything about how Washington works knows that the President needs an invitation from the Speaker to appear in the House.

He has already shown that he can't be trusted . he has lie to us to many time. I no longer listen to what he has to say. I'm looking for someone who will listen to the American People not just a Group that speak the loudest. I want him gone , far away.
