Help with writing the standard form of an equations of a line parallel to this:?
So the directions are: write the standard form of the equation of the line that is parallel to the graph of the given equation and that passes through the point with the given coordinates.
2x+y-5=0; (0,4)
when I worked it, i got 2x+y=4, only for some reason it just doesn't look right. Please help!

2x + y – 5 = 0 has slope= –2, so the line you seek can be written as
y = –2x + b. If (0, 4) is on the line then
4 = –2(0) + b and b = 4.
So y = –2x + 4 which I guess you want to write in the form 2x + y – 4 = 0
What the reason is that "it doesn't look right" I do not know. It looks right to me. Good job!
By the way a quicker way is just to compare staying with the same form:
2x + y – 5 = 0
2x + y + K = 0 but (0, 4) is on line.
So 2(0)+4 + K = 0. Thus K = –4
2x + y – 4 = 0
