Where can I find a free bandwidth monitoring tool?
My ISP has recently elected to cut back out speed, raise our monthly bill AND throw on a bandwidth cap that when gone over charges an extra 5 dollars per gb. Since Charter is to lazy to upgrade their lines so they can offer service an extra 2 miles I am left without any choices at all for a switch.
Since my ISP is also refusing to give me means to monitor my bandwidth I need to find some tool I can monitor from my PC with.
SO any suggestions?
Forgot to mention. I need to be able to monitor accumulative bandwidth usage not just current up and down stream. i need to be able to keep track of everything.

I highly recommend FreeMeter: http://miechu.pl/freemeter/about.aspx
It allows you choose which (or all) network adaptors you want to monitor.
You can configure it to alert you when you are nearing a configured threshhold.
It will continue to log the amount used until you reset it.

I don't know of any monitoring tools you can use on your PC, but you can install custom firmware on your router to monitor the bandwidth.
If you would like to check it out, it's called DD-WRT. You can read about it here:
