  • Any suggestions on alternative advertising solution similar to Project Wonderful?

I am looking to sell some advertising space on my websites. I am having trouble finding advertising methods that allow for direct bidding on 'properties' with my searching efforts.

  • A better Website Copying Tool?

I spend a lot of time mobile and as a results I do not always have a stable connection. I however have a low end IT job that does require a lot of online research and so forth. A few weeks ago I remember that Internet Explorer used to have a nice feature to make a website available offline. While searching for a program to do something similar I stumbled upon WinHTTrack Website Copier but this has some serious issues. Firstly it seems to cap out at about 20kbs and will only do 1 page at a time. I need something that will actually let me use my connection to the fullest. Are there any ideas out there?

  • Genuinely good Co-op storyline PC game suggestions?

I am looking for suggestions and ideas on an co-op capable game with a good storyline for PC. Myself and a few of my buddies have burned out on games for the simple minded and would like something with a decent level of immersion. We all either have jobs or college to deal with but we have devoted a couple hours a day to staying connection for the last few years and would like to not lose that anytime soon.

The two biggest features is co-op and an actual storyline not just a smattering of disconnected quests like most MMOs are guilty of. We have nothing against the idea of hooking up with other gaming guilds or spending reasonable money

  • Recovering data from a password protected folder from a hard drive?

I have a hard drive here that went and flipped it's wig on me this past week. The laptop it was in started giving an I/O error. The laptop is about 4-5 years old and has been used like a slavemule since i had it. Failure was expected eventually. I did however get the drive to boot up in an external case today and am pulling off all the files I can access through the base directory.

Now the question I have is how do I go about getting the files off the desktop when hard drive is stuck being used as an external?

  • Cheap simple thermal imagine device?

I know cheap is a relative term here but I am looking to get my hands on a thermal device. I do not need anything elaborate really. I just want to be able to stand outside a house in the winter and be able to look at the wall and tell where heat is coming through in order to find areas that are poorly insulated. I am pretty sure I do not need a 6,000 dollar thermal imaging video camera for that. I am doing some research of my own on google but i am posting this question because I am pretty confident there are individuals out there which have greater experience than I do on the subject.

  • How to use host file to block a specific IP address?

I have used host file in the past to block websites now I want to do so to block servers. For example if a game happens to have 4 servers available I want to make it possible to block 3 of the servers to force anyone playing on a PC I own to play on the remaining server. How would I go about doing this since I am able to fetch the connection IP.

I am open to other suggestions too as long as they do not include third party software.

I am rather new to Java. I am sure you all have heard that many times.

I am right now try to find a way to call a specific value from a custom package.

The value I am trying to call is declared in the custom package simply so this number can be called upon by multiple other classes.

  • Restrictions on Selling Email Lists?

I have been fighting an unending battle with email spammers for far to long. I am not sure how my various emails got out so wide spread but the results are that I end up with well over 200 emails a day I end up having to sort through. God forbid I take a weekend off to relax because come Monday I will be pushing a thousand.

I have taken to blacklisting email addresses to try and take the edge off of the floods but given the time it take to blacklist the emails (a whole 2 seconds longer than it takes to just delete them) I have not black listed them all. But I noticed earlier today that the blacklisted email list has already past 15,000 in the last year.

I am wondering if there are any implications on me selling this list to off set the cost of the sheer wasted time it takes me to combat this flood on a daily basis.

  • Any problems with quoting a terms of service?

I am wanting to know if there is any legal issue in place that I should be worrying about when it comes to quoting a company or service's terms of service, user agreement, or any similar virtual contract?

Quoting in the manner of evaluating their services of course.

  • Mail Order or online jobs?

I live in a region where the only jobs for 30 miles include lumbering. I am not capable of heavy lifting due to a spinal injury. I am currently doing college online so I am well aware of the uses of the internet. The only asset I have in my little blink town is a post office, gas station, and my shotty internet connection. Any suggestions for a 'remote' job?

  • Javascript clock+timezone adjustment?

I want to know if there is a way to have my website display two different clocks on failed check.

More specifically I am working on a website for a store that is in central time zone but pretty close to the line for eastern. Roughly a third of the customer base is eastern time zone. So the shop owner wants to have the website display 1 clock for people in central time zone, but two for those in eastern. One of their time and one of our time. Is there a decent way to get javascript to check the viewer's time zone?

  • 32 bit stopped working in windows 7?

Mother in her infinite wisdom has a 64 bit windows 7 gaming machine. She ran a virus scan last night and deleted some viruses, or so she says. Now nothing 32 bit will run at all. So now I am getting all kinds of whining because her chinese MMOs do not work.

Reformatting is not an option since we are on an internet service with severe speed/bandwidth limits. All the updates that would have to happen plus the software replacements would use our entire cap for the next couple months. So need to know how to fix this. Obviously the computer in general works since I am posting this from that computer using the 64 bit IE. So just need to get 32 bit working again.

  • Javascript check for bookmark options?

I am wanting to add a javascript check in a web page. So when a user attempts to close/leave the web page it will check to see if they have the page bookmarked. If so then it simply allows them to leave. If not it will throw up an alert message informing them they do not have it bookmarked and ask them to do so. THe alert would have two buttons, one will make a bookmark the other will simply allow them to leave without making a bookmark.

Any suggestions or ideas on the best route to do this?

  • Where can I find a free bandwidth monitoring tool?

My ISP has recently elected to cut back out speed, raise our monthly bill AND throw on a bandwidth cap that when gone over charges an extra 5 dollars per gb. Since Charter is to lazy to upgrade their lines so they can offer service an extra 2 miles I am left without any choices at all for a switch.

Since my ISP is also refusing to give me means to monitor my bandwidth I need to find some tool I can monitor from my PC with.

    SO any suggestions?

  • Finding cost function without fixed cost?

    I am stuck with a bit of a headache. I have a practice assignment that has a question that seems to not be covered in the study material. Something similar to this;

The cost to produce 300 units is $24 and the cost to produce 500 units is $46. Find the formula for C(x).

This seems to be a considerable pain in the neck. Likely due to a lack of sleep. That being said I am going to catch an hour or two then come back with hoped of proper help.
