R&S: Why do Creationists..?
..assume that evolution is "worship of creation"? Does that make Astronomers "worshipers of the stars" or Paleontologists "worshipers of extinction"? Why is educated study replaced with the word "worship"? Why is scientific study, collaboration with fellow scientists, and peer review confused with congregational worship?
"evolutionists can!"
Why do you say someone studying something is "worship" of it? Does your study of
basic engineering mean you "worship" your engineering equipment? of course not.
"Where did that come from?"
Here actually, it's a common Creationist claim.
"you are insane"
I'm perfectly sane, thanks for your concern.
"if the person became so engrossed in that study to the degree that they gave no thought to God, or devoted any time to worshiping God, then that study could become their personal idol, whether or not they recognize that fact."
Doesn't this fail because it assumes everyone is supposed to be a believer in
God from birth to death? some of us aren't "gifted" with being born theists.
"The arguments or discussions about evolution and God boil down to this: you are either for God, or you are against Him, but both choices have eternal consequences."
Lack of belief in God isn't being "against" him. I lack belief in all deities, that doesn't mean I'm out to declare myself an enemy of them all. If God doesn't want me to lack belief in him, he knows what he has to do to convince me into believing.

Something that is believed cannot be turned into an act of worship until the person puts that 'thing' (or person, even) in the place of honour that only God should occupy. The Ten Commandments show that God must come first, with no created thing receiving our worship. That is idolatry.
With belief in the theory of evolution, that belief system WOULD become worship if it effectively shoved God out of the picture; or, if the believer still believed in God but not as the Creator, ditto. It becomes a case of Replacement Theory (comparable to Replacement Theology!) The belief so affects the person's views, that God is not worshipped, or given first place.
Of course, studying a subject in itself, cannot constitute worship. But if the person became so engrossed in that study to the degree that they gave no thought to God, or devoted any time to worshipping God, then that study could become their personal idol, whether or not they recognise that fact. Idolatry is incredibly subtle. It doesn't have to be a carved image!

I don't who used the word "worship" if it was another person that used it or you just assumed that's what they were implying, but in any case, it was an unfortunate word choice.
When someone states that they believe human beings came into existence as the result of an evolutionary process from other life forms, that is contrary to what the Bible states, namely, that human beings were created just as they are now.
From that particular viewpoint, the person believing in evolution is saying that the Bible, God's Word, is a lie. Therefore, they are turning their back on God, but not necessarily "worshiping" evolution.
The arguments or discussions about evolution and God boil down to this: you are either for God, or you are against Him, but both choices have eternal consequences.

Evolution can't be viewed as "worship of creation", but evolutionism can! I am not saying that it is a good thing, I am only saying that the fact in case is possible.

A lot of creationists try to brand evolution as a religion making it easier to discredit in their own minds.
