Many people claimed that if Israel withdrew its settlements in Gaza then there will be be peace.
Needless to say, it didn't happen; Hamas' violence against Israeli civilian targets increased since.
The current blockade of Gaza Strip was put in 2007 due to the takeover of the Strip by Hamas. Palestinian rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip have occurred since 2001

First were 8,600 rockets Hamas launched on Sderot and other Israeli cities in 2006-2008.
Second came the Cast Lead and the blockade as the response of Israel to these rocket attacks from Gaza, after Israel saw that its numerous protests to the UN had not any effect.

Yes, the fine citizens of Gaza, NOT (according to the PA police and government) any police or members of Gaza's government, have sent missiles with explosives into Israeli territory for years. Some of the missiles the fine citizens of Gaza have sent into Israel were constructed from pipes and tubes salvaged from standard construction equipment. For this reason, Israel decided to restrict by means of a blockade Gaza's access to to pipes and tubes.
So the fine citizens of Gaza started importing actual missiles from their allies. The blockade was supposed to end this, too.
Then the Israelis started enforcing the blockade, and found example after example of weapons and objects that could be turned into weapons on the boats being sent into Gaza from the allies of the fine citizens of Gaza and sometimes from the governments of the allies of Gaza.
Then peace activists got involved. Many were anti-Semitic, but most were simply stupid, not evil. They claimed the blockade needed to be lifted for humanitarian reasons, because the fine citizens of Gaza were allegedly suffering from the deprivation cause by the mean old Israelis and their blockade.
Then, one time, as the Mavi Marmara, a boat carrying murder weapons and terrorists and terrorist supporters, but no humanitarian aid, was approaching Gaza, Israeli forces boarded the boat, and their soldiers were attacked by terrorists and "peace activists" with weapons. In the scuffle, some of the terrorists were killed, and the world became a nicer place.
But certain forces of evil don't like it when the Israelis survive attempted terror attacks, and now an entire government wants Israel to apologize for defending themselves.
End of story.

The fire of course.
Though, I would hope that common human learning would teach the people of Gaza that actions do have their consequences, and the lesson that when you jeopardize Israeli life Israel isn't going to take your sh*t.
However, since when has Hamas and like organizations cared about the people of Gaza, truly?

In 2001 Israel started severe restrictions on Gaza which is when the rocket attacks started. It was not until 2007 that blockade began . In 2008 Israel and Hamas agreed on a ceasefire which lasted 4 whole months until Israel predictably broke it
For the record Hamas have fired a total of 8,600 rockets killing 28 Israelis or put another way it takes 307 to kill just 1 person

the rockets
A real David and Goliath story, and the Lord won the victory in that one.

Don't be gullible.. This blockade is punishment for Hamas being elected, not rockets. It's called collective punishment, and Zionists learned well from the Nazis before they left Europe. You make life as miserable as you can for average Palestinian with the hope they'll blame Hamas.
