I just ordered a Dutch oven, what is a good recipe for my first meal?
It's 4 quart oven. What would suggest, either main dish or desert. This is new to me by the way.

That depends a lot on what you already know how to cook. How about a nice chili?...or a soup?

(If you have a plain cast iron Dutch oven--not enameled--you'll probably want to do something that uses a lot of oil for the first few uses to help "condition" it...fry something for example.)

Best to see to the seasoning of the thing if it's straight cast iron. If it isn't pre-seasoned, you'll need to do that. It'll come with instructions on how to season it, and probably with a few easy recipes. There's an online resource to Dutch Oven Cooking. Google the Dutch Oven Society.
