How long to get rid of fleas?

I got a new kitten one week ago. Of course I found she had fleas. I treated her the next day with spot on flea treatment, I also sprayed all the bedding, furniture and carpets with flea spray and combed her out.

2 days later, we had a check and she still had a couple of fleas hopping around in her fur. So I placed some more spot on in her ruff. And again treated all the furnishings.

Its been another 2 days now and a recheck has shown reduction in amount of flea dirt and she is scratching less but there are still a couple hopping around!

I was under the impression that spot on acted within 12-24h to kill all fleas. Given she has had two treatments now why won't they die!! Is it worth treating again or do I just need to give it some time?

Which spot on did you use? Generally if it's not Frontline Plus or Advantage or Revolution, I wouldn't trust it. If it's anything else, read some reviews online before purchasing as there's a good chance it's ineffective. Also you should not be reapplying every couple of days. Apply once according to directions, then don't apply again until at least 3 weeks later. It's a chemical poison, just in a low enough dose as to not kill your cat..lol. So not a good idea to repeat so frequently. Most products work in a day or two but they really only get the fleas once they contact the cat. If they've hopped off prior to application and they're wandering around your living room, it may take them a bit to hit your cat/die. Also they can leave eggs all over the place - in your carpet, etc. These will "activate" when they feel heat and vibration of an animal or human, and lay dormant in the carpet until that time. It may take awhile to catch all of these eggs. Vacuum daily until things are under control. Also good to wash anything that can be washed - bed clothes and curtains and things like that.

go to your vet and ask for flea killer , it may cost slightly more than your one you buy from wilko's but its much better trust me (3 dogs, 5 cats ect ... ) also you can call in an exterminator for your house to kill every flea inside your house ! go to the vet is the best option !
