Months Ago I Discovered 3 Lumps On My Neck, So I Decided That I'd Just Look Up The Symptoms On MacMillan's Website. I Have Quite A Few & My Mum Knows, But She Thinks Nothing Of It. I Want To Ask Her To Take Me To See My Doctor,But I'm Just Too Scared.. Any Advice?

Did you kiss some girl off the street or somethin? 'Cause you might have mono.

However, IT'S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY! Go to the Doc ASAP and tell him/her/it what your problem is. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you're not alone. Millions of people are diagnosed with cancer every year. Lumps on the body are not to be ignored and need to be reported as soon as possible. Tell your mum you might have mono. Even if your mum freaks, at least you did something.

Please don't put off going to the doctor or the results might be horrific.

    Hi Katie,

Looking up your symptoms on a cancer information website is only going to give you information about cancer. So I can understand why you are worried. But I do not think that it is particularly likely that your lumps are cancerous (malignant). Any type of cancer would be very rare in a person of 13. Although cancer can develop at any age, the vast majority of cancers develop in people who are over 50.

Having said this, it is not possible for you or anyone else to diagnose what is wrong on the internet. It is always a good idea to get any new symptoms checked by a GP, just to be on the safe side. Many doctors will see a person of your age without an adult being present, but it is really best to talk with your mum or another adult that you trust, as they will be able to offer you support.

The doctor attended years of medical school. Your mom is years ahead of you in wisdom.

You will not be worse off after a visit to the doctor. If there is something wrong, you can begin treatment for it. If not, you find out you're fine and can stop being so worried.

Talk to your mom about the situation and say that you are kinda scared and that it would be better if you could go to the doctors to check them out just to make sure.

Don't be afraid, just ask your mom.

Or you can go see a doctor on your own. Depends on how old you are. I'd go with telling your mom.

how old are you? you can certainly make an appointment to see a doctor on your own and if it's not within walking distance, get a friend or something to drive you there, or take a bus. what's the worst that could happen - she'd say no? if you're really worried about it, just calmly explain it to her, and ask her to take you to the doctor. if she still says no, just go yourself anyways.

You shouldn't search a cancer related website. Those are lymph nodes and more than likely, just a little swollen. Mother usually knows best.

You need to tell her as soon as possible so she can get you to a doctor right away. If you keep waiting it will only get worse! listen to me and tell your mom!

ASK HER NOW. Think about it this way.... If you wait too long or don't tell her to take you you can and most likely WILL DIE.
