Can I run multiple apps together on original iPad?
I'm debating getting an iPad to take onto campus with me instead of my much heavier laptop. But I don't know whether I would need an iPad 2 or whether the original iPad would be sufficient.
The camera and weight difference doesn't bother me. But, I have heard people saying that you can't 'multitask' on an iPad whilst others say that it is wrong and the iPad is perfectly capable of multitasking. So my question is, on the original iPad would I be able to run a number of apps together as you can on a laptop? (I usually run Firefox, itunes, twitter and Microsoft office or equivalent at the same time). And also, do the 'smart covers' work with the original iPad?
thanks
Just realised I can't run Firefox on iPad so I'll amend that list to;
Safari,itunes, twitter and MS Office or equivalent

You can run multiple apps on the original iPad but the ones not being used are frozen in the background, unless they are doing something like playing music which will continue to play, so as to preserve battery life. You then switch between the apps as required. The magnetic smart covers do not work on the original iPads but there are many covers to choose from that will fit.

You need iOS 4 or higher.You double click the home button, the dashboard will pop up then you can switch between apps like that.
The smart cover is designed specifically for the iPad 2, it is thinner, so it wont fit on the 1st Gen iPad.
