What's the name of that Swing/Jazz song?
I've tried every search I know and cannot find the name to a great tune that is briefly played in an I Love Lucy episode. TO BE CLEAR - I am NOT talking about the Glow Worm song that Lucy keeps trying to play. I'm talking about a song in the second scene that Ricky's orchestra plays. It's a really cool swing/jazz/big band tune. I just LOVE it and want to get it on my ipod. What's it called and who's it by??
I forgot to mention the episode is titled "The Saxophone". The orchestra tune played in scene two is NOT listed on the credits on this episode. I am hoping that a real swing/big band music buff will be able to identify it for me just by hearing it. Thanks!!

Without reference to a specific episode, it's hard to say. Desi Arnez, although best known today as an actor, was a great musician. He played guitar in Xavier Cugat's big band, before forming his own. Since "Ricky Riccardo" was basically a fictitious version of himself, he would naturally be a band leader. The band on the show was Desi's orchestra, whom he kept on the payroll when he moved to doing "I Love Lucy" to both do the music for the show and appear in the club scenes.

You didn't specify an episode, but based on your comment about Glow Worm, I assume you are speaking of "The Saxophone" from Season 2. I own the DVDs of the complete show, which list the musical numbers in the menu for each episode, but unfortunately they don't credit any songs except Glow Worm for this episode.
