Downshifting at high rpm's on my civic si?
Well i have a 2002 civic si, and when i pass on the freeway or need the boost, i usually downshift to pick up faster.
And today to see whats up, i down shifted from 2nd to 1st and the rpm's went up high, and almost redlined.
I dont punch it all the time, im just worried if doing this to my car shortens the life like crazy, becuase my car is my love and i want it to last as long as i can.
Ps, since is an si, is it ok to redline? people tell me so but im just worried about killing the life, thanks

i would not redline it on a regular basis. if you're not racing or in an emergency i would keep the rpm's away from the redline

you have to listen to your engine.be one with it.you don't wan't to always redline especially when your downshifting you''ll prob. blow your engine or kill your pistons

relax,
drive it like you stole it.
but keep an eye on the oil level, v-tec engines are known to use a little oil.
