You need to give more specific information regarding your business. A point of sale system as I interpret it is a computer equipped with barcode scanning technology and inventory. They are extremely expensive to set up and you generally need to have a professional come in and give you a few lessons on how to use it. Even then the cons may outweigh the pros depending on what you are selling.
Rewind 20 years ago and there were no POS machines. Go to your local stationary shop and purchase a 2 day to a page diary. Simply write in each sale you've made when it happens (depending on how busy you are) and tally it up at the end of each week, day and month. If you accept cards as well as cash simply draw up columns "Cash", "Credit" etc. You'll get the same result as a POS terminal and save thousands on equipment, servicing and time.
Use Microsoft Excel (or a similar program) to keep track of your daily, weekly and monthly earnings and away you go.
