Regarding Tithes issues?

Recently , the Lord give me a word in regards to tithes. I have prayed a few months ago that i want to give my tithes back to the Lord again. But however, i told the Lord since i not in any church yet, which means in my mode of praying of settling in a body of christ, where can i put my titles to ? After praying, i just leave it as it is. And i actually totally forgotten about this matter.

Until few days ago, the Lord put a word inside my heart and He says this to me : Give your tithles to the poor.

Does anyone understand this statement ? Kindly advise. Thanks

Tithing was an old testament practice and were to be given ONLY to the tribe of Levite. The English word tithe means a tenth.

Num_18:24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

Num 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

Lev 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD.

Because the Levite owned no land and serve in the temple services, the other tribes had to contribute to their livelihood throughout the year, thus the tithe was considered to be holy (as it was for temple serices).

Tithes and tithing are old covenant, and you are not a party to that old covenant. Jesus said if you give food to the hungry, or water to the thirsty, you are doing it for Him. A church or ministry that teaches tithing is twisting Scripture, and you are, as a result, feeding wolves.

That was 1 of the reasons tithing was begun, to care for the poor, the widow and the orphan.

Any time a believer gives freely and with a cheerful heart it is counted as righteousness. We are not required to give to a church exclusively. I give to the Salvation Army and to local food banks. And I always make sure I have extra cash in my pocket for those times when a stranger asks me for money. This is in keeping with the Lord's admonition to give to all who ask. (Luke 6:30)

You can tithe to organizations that assist those who are less fortunate. There are many Christian charities that support orphanages, homeless shelters, and food services.

Simply, help those in need. Don't give it to those who become rich claiming to help the poor.

Yes, this was the actual intent for us to do with our share; to distribute to every one in need, according as they have need.
