Anyone ever have their infant on liquid formula and then switch to powdered?
How did they handle it? I have had my daughter on liquid similac and breast milk since she was born and then just liquid similac after 4 wks old. I am thinking about switching her to the powdered form because its easier and cheaper, but wanted to know if this could cause problems. Ive heard the liquid is better on their stomachs. What is your personal experience?

We did both and Aubree didn't have any issues with it. Now that you've asked this question, it makes me wonder if I should have been more careful. I don't think there is really a difference though. We used liquid formula when I got those $5 coupon checks from similac (was able to get a bottle for like .80). I prefered liquid formula (easier, for me) but knew that powder was cheaper.
PS. My aunt looked into name brand vs store brand and found NO differences. We used similac in the beginning but eventually switched over to the Up&Up Target brand formula. :-P

I've done the opposite, started out with powder, my daughter is on Similac Alimentum which is a miracle product but costs like a trillion dollars, got some RTF for christmas and used it, no problems.
My daughter actually has a slight preference for the powder, because she likes a warm bottle and its easier to mix it with the perfect temperature water versus heat liquid up just right.
Also, powder is awesome when you are out. I bring a thermos of warm water and a formula dispenser and its easy as pie to make a bottle, no worries about keeping it cold then rewarming it.
My daughter never seemed to spit up any more or less on one over the other.
ETA: Also you might add look into buying formula by the case online regardless what form you use, Amazon has good deals and we had great luck with mzmed.com, we saved as much as 7 bucks a can, Leah's formula only comes in 16 oz cans which cost about 26 dollars a can, so the savings was huge. Also its so nice and convenient to have it shipped right to your door!

What kind of liquid are you using? There are the ready to feed bottles, that all you have to do is put a nipple on, which I also found very expensive.
And there is also the liquid cans. Much like cambells soup, you pour out the can into a jug then add a can of water. You can pre-pour all of your bottles so you just need to grab one at feeding time, or pour them as you need. I found this very convenient, and at about the same cost as the powder.
I personally never switched. I did try 1 can of powder but i stuck with the liquid because it is eaiser to digest, its eaiser and about the same price. But if your baby is older im sure the tranistion will be smooth. good luck!

Yes. I used the ready-to-feed for the first couple of months and then switched to powdered. My daughter tolerated the transition just fine - I don't think she even noticed. Then I switched from powdered Similac to powdered generic (Babies R Us brand is my personal preference). It's half the price of Similac and just as good.

My daughter had the liquid form till she was bout 4 weeks old, and then we ran out of the stuff people either got us or from the hospital. Switched to the powered form and she did wonderful. She may have a bit more spit up, just a bit more. Until she gets used to it:)
