Hey Everyone!! I am the mother a fantastic 3 yr old little boy and just had my daughter in June 2011! God is great!

  • Does your child resemble another family member?

my daughter looks a good bit like me, but i do see parts of her daddy in her. However, she has this "onry" (sp?) face that is my brother 100%!! its so neat to see the different similarities in them!

  • What do you and your SO argue over the most?

believe it or not, ours is the temperature inside the house and what method to heat or not heat it lol.... I like it cool and despise the woodstove as it drys the air out and messes with my sinuses and he likes it hot enough to open windows in the winter with the woodstove crankin....im so not looking forward to winter :(

  • So, most say to address older child first so that they dont feel left out because of the baby?

So.....this would mean that the oldest child who has always had your attention is still getting your attention first, with the baby coming in second. The younger child shouldnt have to come in second place just to make sure the first child isnt jealous. I say, give equal attention and let both children have turns "coming first"....what do you do when an older and younger child are wanting attention?

  • How does your baby sleep (tummy, back, or side)?

I always placed her on her back per all the books and doctors. However, she now rolls onto her side when she sleeps and if roll her to her back, she'll simply roll right back onto her side. She's 16wks. How does your baby like to sleep?

My son who is 3.5 if up down all around hanging halfway off his bed etc. He moves around like crazy in his sleep.

  • when did your baby begin to completely roll over?

My son was rolling completely over by 2 mos of age and was 7 wks premature, my daughter however, has only rolled over once and never done it again. She rolls on her sides all the time, but never rolls over. im just assuming its because she doesnt want to at this point lol. She has great head, neck, and back control and sits up with little assistance, but has no desire to roll over. Anyone else have a baby like this? shes 16wks.

  • Parents, do you think it would be okay for your kids to eat this?

or for you to eat this if say you brought it to work for lunch and forgot to put it in the refrigerator and it wasnt packed with ice?

i brought fettucini with alfredo and broccoli that i cooked last night and had it in the refrigerator overnight. Got it out at 7 am for my lunch today and didnt realize until 10:50 that i hadnt put it in the fridge at work, so its been sitting out in a tupperware container for almost 4 hours, but it feels cold inside the container? do i toss it? or will it be fine to eat? thanks

  • Parents, when canning food for your family and child :) how do?

How do you go about doing that? Im making a huge pot of veggie soup and usually we make ourselves completely sick of it eating it for lunch and dinner for 3-4 days straight. So, if i want to can it, is it just like canning say green beans? or is there anything special i need to do? This veggie soup also has deer meat in it, not sure if that makes a difference when canning. We use a "pressure canner"

  • Anyone ever have their infant on liquid formula and then switch to powdered?

How did they handle it? I have had my daughter on liquid similac and breast milk since she was born and then just liquid similac after 4 wks old. I am thinking about switching her to the powdered form because its easier and cheaper, but wanted to know if this could cause problems. Ive heard the liquid is better on their stomachs. What is your personal experience?

  • My son never liked the pacifier, my daughter seemed to love it, but lately doesnt want anything to do with it?

After about 10 wks old she just doesnt seem to want it any more and just spits it out. I guess this is a good thing right? since i wont have to break her of the habit later? My friends children are very much "binky babies" and they just seem to think that i dont give it to her and that she needs one and tehy are always trying to put it in her mouth and she just spits it out and they think its "my fault"....why on earth would it be anyones fault? she just doesnt want it anymore? lol........ Anyone elses baby just decide they dont like it? my son never took to it at all. kolbey loved it in the beginning and had to have it to sleep but just stopped..

  • When did your child begin "writing" and "drawing" to where you could tell what it was?

My son is 3 and knows all his abcs and numbers, shapes, etc. However, his handwriting isnt very good. We practice and he is pretty good with cirlcles and of course the number ones. His triangles are pretty good but sometimes get to looking a little curvy. Im perfectly aware this is normal. My question just is, do i continue to work with him on this now or just let him scribble and have fun? I usually sit with him about 10 minutes and "practice" maybe once a week, other than that, he just scribbles and has a blast. When is the usual age for drawing and writing? I know in Pre K which he will start next year, they begin writing ABCs by connecting the dots.

  • At what age did you begin 'spoon feeding' your baby?

My pediatrician recommended i start back at my daughters 10 wk check up because shes "doing so well for her age so fast" meaning she sits straight up and turns her head all over the place following people. Anyway, he suggested i start spoon feeding plain white rice mixed with formula. I thought it was too soon, so i havent yet. She is now 12 wks and just curious as to when would be a good time to start. Ive heard its usually around 4 mos?

  • Does it bother you if someone shows up unannounced?

I really hate for people to knock on my door and just expect me to be happy to see them. I think its rude. I could be in the middle of dinner, still in my PJs, or who knows what. I just think that if you are visiting someone, you should atleast call ahead and make sure that time of day works for them and so they can be expecting you. What are your thoughts?

How do you feel when your kid's friends just show up and want to play?

  • What is something funny/cute that has happened lately with your child?

Last night, i made dinner and Zachary was sitting at the table eating (age 3) then i turned to go get Kolbey and put her in her swing by the table so i could see her while i had dinner also. When i turned around with Kolbey, i saw Zachary standing on the chair and he fell off face first into our hardwood floor (who here is thinking....and this is suppose to be a funny story?? lol ) He started screaming. I laid the baby down and ran over to him. He alwys tells me "i okay" even if he's crying but he wouldnt do it this time. He kept blubbering "im ruined, im ruined" then he got so choked up he almost threw up which alarmed me. I called my mom as i was scared because he landed right on his head and left side of his face. She could hear him saying that he was ruined and said, "maybe he thinks he ripped his face off or something...." so i picked him up while he was still crying and walked him into the bathroom where he could see his face. She'd hit the nail on the head. He immediately stopped crying, touched his cheek and said "hey, i am alright" and started laughing....

I cant believe he thought he'd permenantly damaged his face, how would that even cross a 3 yr olds mind, so thats how it was cute.

  • Has lack of sleep as a parent ever made you do anything strange?
