Parents, when canning food for your family and child :) how do?
How do you go about doing that? Im making a huge pot of veggie soup and usually we make ourselves completely sick of it eating it for lunch and dinner for 3-4 days straight. So, if i want to can it, is it just like canning say green beans? or is there anything special i need to do? This veggie soup also has deer meat in it, not sure if that makes a difference when canning. We use a "pressure canner"
Oh and how long will this canned soup be good for? Thanks in advance
i would freeze, but the potatos get mushy and dont taste right after thawed.....

You can pressure can vegetable soup - just a bit different than canning green beans. You use 10 pounds of pressure, but it takes much longer - different recipes say anything from 60 - 75 minutes. The large amount of time is due to the meat. So, you do not need to do anything special. You can also can deer meat by itself. I have never done it - but lots of people do it and say it tastes really good. You can freeze it too - better if you don't have enough to can.
In a jar it is good for several years - in a deep freeze about 6 mo.

I just fill up quart size ziploc freezer bags. Toss it in a hot water bath until it slides out of the ziploc then microwave or heat on the stove.

My mom always just puts in in bowls in the freezer. She says it's good for about 3 months.

I would freeze it. Good quality tupperware freezer container or good old ziploc bags.
