Xavi, an average player?
I saw someone *cough* saint iker *cough* say Xavi was an average player. He said all he did was pass the ball from six feet away and fool people that he has accuracy. He's gotta be kidding right? You're talking about the only player on the planet that completes 100+ passes each game. The guy who rarely ever gives a bad pass, whether it is long range or short range. The player who came in front of Ronaldo, who broke a record in Spain, in the best player in Europe award by a margin of 8 votes.
What do you think? Is Xavi an "average" player?

Don't listen to him, the jealousy got him delusional. He said that Casillas and other Madridistas did more for Spain at WC and EC than Barca players..... the poor guy doesn't understand football, which doesn't surprise me really because he is British (or somewhere from that island I think), just keep in mind that people like him are the ones that are predicting Barca's downfall since the first day Pep took over. Can you even imagine how much fun I have with guys like him... lol.... for me it's always HILARIOUS how a guy on some football forum actually thinks that he knows more than all the football experts from around the world... just like people still compare C.Ronalda with Messi despite the fact that he got only ONE single non biased vote in UEFA award.... some people are so jealous that they can't see clearly no matter how much you try to show them the simple truth.

Xavi is only a great player in the Barcelona set up, I know you haven't been a Barcelona fan for long but between 1998 when he made regular appearances until 2008 Xavi wasn't no where near the top 20 footballers in the world, let alone the top 10. So tell me, why did Xavi only break into that top 10, even top 3, until he was 28 years old?
I'll tell you why, he can only succeed when the whole team plays to suit his game, Pre-Guardiola he was nothing special. Never stood out at Barca just filled the team sheet. He couldn't sting together 100+ passes for any other team just like he didn't for Barca in all those years because they don't have as much possession, he won't get passed to as much.
Individually Xavi is an average player, or a good player at best. He works best in a team that's molded to his needs. I answers a New Zlatan question where he said great answer and picked me as best answer.... here it is

LMAO....Just look at how Iker is trying to compare Xavi with Di Stefano ( a forward by trade ) and saying Di Stefano COULD play in central midfield better than Xavi....haters these days BTW, Is Messi also a better midfielder than Xavi since he's very "versatile" and most of the time "operates" in the middle of the pitch ?

XAVI AN AVERAGE PLAYER????
Yes, he most be kidding, or else I wouldn't know how someone can say something so senseless. I tend to respect everyone's opinion, but I swear I never heard anyone say Xavi was an average player. I spend most of my time in the spanish version of this page and a common question is always asked there "Merengues, if you had the option to get one of your rival's players, who would he be?" The answers are always Xavi or Iniesta. For that matter of Xavi being and average player, then we can say that Ozil and Xabi Alonso are less than average players because I don't think anyone can argue that Xavi is better as a whole.
He is like an architect on the field, he is the goddamn genius of the team. He is the one who says how, when, and the speed at which the team will play. He makes the team play. He has an amazing vision of game, and his ball control is incredible. He is one of the best players in history, he was one of the 2 or 3 key elements for Spain when they won the world cup last year, that is why it surprises me that someone will say he is average because as I said, I swear I never heard anyone say or write that about him. He is the guy who distributes the whole game of a team that everyone agrees is one of the best in history (and then for others is the best team of all times) if you have a team that is that good, then none of his players are average or else their teams wouldn't be that great. I'll put it this way, I don't know why if Xavi is so average, I don't see other players do the things he does. I mean, if he is so average, why don't we see other players that are as average as he is, do the things he does on the field? The answers is simple, you can say Xavi is many things, you can describe him in many different ways, for example he is one out-of-this-world player, or I like saying he is the essence of this particular sport, but one thing he is not, is average. He is the player that makes Barcelona play the way it does, Messi can do it, and he does it really well but truth it is, he doesn't do it as great as Xavi, perhaps because Messi doesn't have another Messi up front or perhaps because no one can really do it like Xavi. He is basically the reason of the 70%+ ball possession we always have, yes the whole team plays a role on it, but without Xavi I have a "feeling" things will be really, really different.
And yes, 100+ passes a game is pretty incredible, I don't really get why someone will tell you to watch the sport more often because of that argument, I mean I don't know how many players can say that. I wish I could get the statistic about the pass accuracy of Xavi from the last couple of seasons because I am sure its amazing, but I don't find any reliable webpage to have it.

Xavi is not an average player, he is a very good player. One of the best in his day. Did you see Casillas say this? If so where, post the link. I would doubt it as they are actually very good friends.

the 100+ passes each game doesnt prove anything and if we're gonna talk about awesome passes, lets talk about xabi alonso. He can kick the ball from the other side of the field and it will land right on ur feet.

Back passes, sideways passes ? yeah, right, thats why he is the master of Classicos, he is the one that controls Barcelona football, the engine of the team.
I would expect Madrid fans to downplay Xavi's role though, they must hate him for being the only reason why Barcelona dominate them in every classico.
2-6 in 2009 = he assisted four goals, Man of the match
0-2 in 2010= he assisted both of the goals and he was named as man of the match
5-0 in 2010= once again, he was at the heart of the one of the best football games in football history.
Not to mention his champions league final performances against Manchester United where he completely run the show or Euro 2008 when he won the award of the best player of that tournament.
Xavi dominates every big game and thats pretty scary thing, he is the heart of Barcelona and Spain.

If Xavi is an average player, then:
Chuck Norris is an average person
Messi is an average striker
Usian Bolt is an average runner
The Sahara is an average desert
Micheal Jordan is an average basketball player
Led Zeppelin is an average band
Mercedes-Benz is an average car
The Godfather is an average movie

Yes, he completes over 100 passes but about 70 of them are backward and sideways from 2-4 meters. So, Saint Iker is right.
