How much does a normal hospital bill cost after giving birth? With epdoral, or c section?

What about if there were complications? Or how about if you have to stay a while in the hospital? Thank you in advance

A lot of the cost depends on where you live, since the cost of living is different in all states. A normal delivery, without drugs, is about 5,000-10,000 dollars, but an epidural added on wouldn't be that much over, maybe an extra couple hundred bucks. For a c-section, it could be up to 20,000 dollars since a c-section is major surgery and the hospital stay is extended by 1 day. If there were complications in the birth, the cost would definitely go up, based on the severity of the complications, and if the baby has to go to the NICU, that is when the cost sky rockets. My son was in the NICU for 13 days, and in the midwest, the NICU costs $2,000 per day, so times that by 13, and you get $26,000 alone for the NICU, but that doesn't include the cost of the doctors, the shots, the medication, etc. A tube of vaseline costs about $20 in the NICU, which is ridiculous, but its how they make their money to pay their workers, I guess. My advice to you, if you want to save as much money as possible when having a baby, is have an uncomplicated, natural birth! Lol I wish it was that easy, but as long as the baby is fine, at the end of the day, no amount of money is too much to spend!
