Cons: Can you provide any evidence that Al Gore ever once said he invented the internet?

Since Cons are the ones that perpetuate this lie - I just want to see if any Con can provide a video link, recording, or a written quote from a credible source that suggests that Al Gore ever claimed to have "invented" the internet.

I do however have a quote of him saying he worked with Congress to pass legislation in the 1980's that helped grow & expand the internet.

Also, here are quotes from computer scientists & internet pioneers vouching on Gore's behalf:

Internet pioneers Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn noted that, "as far back as the 1970s, Congressman Gore promoted the idea of high speed telecommunications as an engine for both economic growth and the improvement of our educational system. He was the first elected official to grasp the potential of computer communications to have a broader impact than just improving the conduct of science and scholarship [...] the Internet, as we know it today, was not deployed until 1983. When the Internet was still in the early stages of its deployment, Congressman Gore provided intellectual leadership by helping create the vision of the potential benefits of high speed computing and communication.

Gore introduced the Supercomputer Network Study Act of 1986. He also sponsored hearings on how advanced technologies might be put to use in areas like coordinating the response of government agencies to natural disasters and other crises."

Update:

Anti: Tina Fey did the "see Russia from my house" joke. But, Fox News were the ones that reported that Sarah Palin thought Africa was a country. Don't believe me? Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWZHTJsR4Bc

Update 2:

Saying "creating the internet" is referring to the legislation he pushed to growing the internet as being a mainstream commodity in America.

"Inventing" would mean he sat in a lab, wiring computer networks himself. I believe the internet was officially invented in 1969.

He said "He took the inititiative in starting the internet" which meant he supported bills that funded the internet starting, which is true.

He didn't say "inventing" and he didn't say he did it.

Source(s): A late night joke, just like "I can see Russia from my house" that people shouldn't take seriously (but sadly a lot of idiots do). Gee, a rich guy has a big house - call the press! (lol!)

Gore discussed the possibility of running during a March 9, 1999 interview with CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer. In response to Wolf Blitzer's question: "Why should Democrats, looking at the Democratic nomination process, support you instead of Bill Bradley?", Gore responded:

"I'll be offering my vision when my campaign begins. And it will be comprehensive and sweeping. And I hope that it will be compelling enough to draw people toward it. I feel that it will be. But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."

If Gore made a verbal blunder then he did not claim he invented the internet, he just proved he was a blabbering dolt. Pick your poison.

Can you provide any evidence that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house, or thought that Africa was a country?

Can you provide any evidence that the Tea Party is a violent racist movement with hate speech at every rally?

Can you provide any evidence of how much the sea levels have risen in the past 5 years?

    EDIT:

I've seen that footage, and I'm well aware it's from fox news. But it's not evidence of Sarah Palin calling Africa a country, it's a few journalists claiming she did.

Woah, woah, woah...is someone really questioning whether global warming is real or not? Even Faux News has come to the understanding that it is. If you can't then you obviously live in the dark ages. Have fun with that ;)

Obviously the liberal media, which only fox valiantly defends against like a sea wall protecting all that God has given us from the evil liberal and atheist sea, has initiated a huge cover up to hide such a spurious claim.
