Ramadan: Do you believe actions are better measured by their quality or their quantity?
Asalamu Aleikom brothers and sisters, long time since I've been around here inshallah everyone is doing well :)
Do you believe that good actions are best measured by their quality (how well they are done) or their quantity (how many are done)? Do you find more happiness when you do a few good deeds to your greatest ability, or just many many good deeds?
Put simply: Quantity or quality of good deeds? What makes you lean towards your answer?
I have my answer and reasons to why I chose it, but I wanted to see what you all think :)
Jazakumallah Khair~
Also, by quality I mean how much of your heart goes into it.
Ofcourse without intention it is all worthless. But say your intention is good in all your good deeds, is the quality or the quantity then that matters most after intention?

Definitely quality...(intention)
Why?
This hadith proves the importance of quality.....
On the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab, who said : I heared the messenger of Allah salla Allah u alihi wa sallam say :
"Actions are but by intention and every man shall have but that which he intended. Thus he whose migration was for Allah and His messenger, his migration was for Allah and His messenger, and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated."
[Bukhari and Muslim]
anddddddddddd this hadith proves the insignificance of quantity
Abdullah bin Masud narrated to us, the messenger of Allah said:
"Verily the creation of each one of you is brought together in his mother's belly for forty days in the form of seed, then he is a clot of blood for a like period, then a morsel of flesh for a like period, then there is sent to him the angel who blows the breath of life into him and who is commanded about four matters: to write down his means of livelihood, his life span, his actions, and whether happy or unhappy. By Allah, other than Whom there is no god, verily one of you behaves like the people of Paradise until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which has been written over takes him and so he behaves like the people of Hell-fire and thus he enters it; and one of you behaves like the people of Hell-fire until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which has been written over takes him and so he behaves like the people of Paradise and thus he enters it."

we should try to do a moderate amount of good deeds everyday, all actions are judged by intentions so I think quality matters more but you should get the quantity part over a long period of time i.e. reading 2 chapters of Quran a day is not manageble but reading for say 20 mins each day is fine. Don't overwhelm your Nafs by doing too much at once, take it step by step.
hope you understand this :)
wassalam x

Quantity - consistency in doing a good deed is important plus of course the intention of doing it solely for the sake of Allah and according to the sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

Wa alaikum salam I do believe actions are measured by its niyat/intention and its quality and also by its quantity Good deeds with best quality and be done as much as we could is better than only once with best quality good deed.

I second the answers on niyyah, quantity and quality both matter by the way, and again if you offer lots of prayers without focus, it's useless, but a few with concentration of course they are better than many.
But again it doesn't prioritize or mean one should not go for quantity - just concentrate on your niyyah and if the question refers to Salah then add focus into it too.

. The single action wherein there is pure Ikhlaas - sincerity and done purely for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's sake, is definitely quality of perfection...
. Quantity of actions must also be estimable by the same sort of measure...
. "All action depend upon its intention" - Hadith Bukhari & Muslim.
. "All action depend upon its end result." - Hadith Bakhari & Muslim.

Allah(S.W.T.) also said in surat Al- Maidah, (verse 93), what can be translated as, "And did good deeds with Ihsan (Perfection). And Allah loves the good-doers."
And the prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) says in a good Hadith, "Allah For loves his servant when he initiates some deed, he does it well"
Allah (S.W.T.) commanded us to establish prayer, and not only performing the various prescribed movements, but by praying the prayer well. Allah (S.W.T.) said in many places in the Quran like (verse 110) in surat Al- Baqarah, what can be translated as, "And offer prayers perfectly."
Allah (S.W.T.) described his believing successful servants, and from their description in surat Al- Muminun (verses 1 & 2), what can be translated as, "Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their prayers with all solemnity and full submissiveness."
The Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) confirms the importance of having solemnity and full submissiveness in the prayer. Also in keeping the heart concentrated during prayer. The Muslim will be rewarded for his prayer as much as he accomplishes this. The Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) said, "You will be rewarded for your prayer as much as you concentrated and focused in it."
The Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) also says in another authentic Hadith reported by Imam Ibn-Majah, An-nisa’, and Ibn-Khuzaymah, "There may be a fasting person who has nothing from his fasting except hunger, and there may be night-praying person who has nothing from his night-praying except staying up."
In another authentic Hadith reported by Bukhari and others that the Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) said about fasting, "Anyone who does not leave the wrong sayings and the wrong actions then, Allah has no need for that person to leave his food and drink."
Above all, Islam made a sincere intention in all righteous deeds a condition for their acceptance by Allah. Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.) said in an authentic Qudsi Hadith reported by Imam Muslim, "Allah has proclaimed: I am the most self-respecting and self-sufficient of all; therefore whoever brings forth a partner to Me in any action, I entrust him to that same partner, I reject him and his act of associating anything with Me."

Wa alaikum salam sister. It all depends on your intention. You can do hajj but it might not be worth nothing if you do not have the right intention. So intention comes first.

Actions are measured by their niyyah
if niyyah is not for earning rewrd/for Allah's sake then its a waste
salaamualikum
