I got kicked in the head by my horse today?

I went and galloped my horse in the field today with my friend and her horse. The field is by the highway. On the way there she was PERFECT on the way back my friends horse spooked at a fallen sign near the trail and so my horse got scared. I help on to her (bucking) for about 20 seconds. I was on her neck holding on and she threw me. Really far. At least 40 feet. The second I landed all I could see was her feet pounding towards me and she tried to jump over me but she ended up kicking me in the head. Not too bad, No dent in the helmet and anything and no bump. But I can't tell if I'm having headaches or not because I have an awful cold and I've had a headache all day. I'm just curios how worried I should be. I've waited the 3 hours and I'm about to go to sleep now. My friend mentioned I might need to think about having whiplash too because my neck is a little tender to move.

I'm not going to a doctor. Don't even mention that.

Any tips?

Also, I got back on and rode her but now I'm kinda scared to go back. And I know shes scared too. When i got back on her whole body was trembling. Even when I brushed her, cooled her down and gave her treats and was still shaking a little.

Update:

If I go to the doctor, I'd have to tell my dad. If I tell my dad, I can say goodbye to my horse. He hates her and the fact that I ride already. He won't let me keep her after this.

aww im sorry that must have hurt. you might have gotten a little concusion from that and wip last. i would check on it tomorrow and see if it worsens. if you know a person in the medical field i would ask them about it too. even though you are scared you do need to go back but wait for a while to make sure you are ok first. if you arnt feeling better in a couple days, even though you said no doctor you need to talk to someone in the medical field. i hope you feel better

I know you don't want to but: Go to a doctor! Head and neck injuries are nothing to shrug at.

For your confidence, you need lunge lessons.

By the way, I don't condone galloping horses in fields- the footing is uneven and your horse could lose its footing and fall, hurt you severely... Just saying...

First o all WHY DIDN'T YOU GO TO THE E.R????

For the love of GOD! Just because you wore a helmet and it didn't get dented you could STILL have head trauma! Your best bet would be to go to the doctor and get checked out because if you have a concussion and not know it and go to sleep you might just never wake up.....

Um doctor. Sorry. I'm probably wasting my time saying that since you won't go, but no one can tell you just from your story, you need a professional to check you out.

Why won't you go to the doctor? Its not that expensive. You could even stop in at one of those little clinics that they have at drug stores.

There you go. Thats what you gotta do. Sorry.

Or lots of advil, but that won't cure it.

Subdural haematoma (or subdural hematoma) -- check it out at

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdural_hematoma

Make sure to write the term down and carry it with you so that when you pass out the people who take you the the emergency room will know what to tell the doctors.
