What do you call a person who says America is the greatest nation, but they want to fundamentally change it?

Update:

To those who are playing word games...there is great, greater, and greatest. Read again and see which one I used.

Update 2:

"improvements" are not fundamental changes. In otherwords a a car turned into a motorcycle is no longer a car.

    A realist.

You can have the fastest car on the road, but that doesn't mean it can't be improved on and made to be faster. Rome was once the greatest nation and they had many flaws.

Moral of the story: There's always room for improvement

@"To those who are playing word games...there is great, greater, and greatest. Read again and see which one I used."

No word games. You said "greatest", and as I said, the greatest (or fastest) can be improved upon. If somebody is the smartEST in a room full of dumb people, that doesn't necessarily make them smart. USA may be the greatest, but we live in an imperfect world, which has many flaws. The other countries aren't perfect, so even as the greatest, USA is not perfect and far from it.

@""improvements" are not fundamental changes. In otherwords a a car turned into a motorcycle is no longer a car."

Anything that allows a country to progress and move forward is an improvement. Whether that be a minor change or a fundamental change. If you drive a car and you're late everyday for work, getting a motorcycle which allows you to weave through traffic would be an improvement. If USA wants to move forward and get through traffic, it has to make a fundamental change (improvement) at this point.

The same as a person that says they know how to be successful but wants to fundamentally change other people who say they don't need them.

Great quote from Obama during the 2008 elections. Can't quote exactly, but it was something like, "We live in the greatest nation on earth, please join me as we change it." Even the liberal press could not avoid reporting it. In lieu of the present circumstances, that quote says a lot.

I call them -progressive-. Someone who believes America is great but could be greater.

Back during the Vietnam War, those of us who protested against the war were told 'My nation right or wrong.' We saw bumper stickers with this sentiment on them. But the pro-war faction didn't quote the WHOLE quote, which was: "My nation right or wrong. If right to be kept right, if wrong to be put right."
