Irritated, itchy ear piercings?
When I first got my ears pierced 10 years ago I never had any problems with infection or irratation. I got them pierced with 14k gold earrings but would also sometimes wear the cheap silver kind. Lately, whenever I try to wear earrings in those holes they get irratated, to the point where I have to take my earrings out because it hurts. I only wear 14k gold earrings in those holes now but it doesn't help. About 2 years ago I got a second hole in both my ears. I again got 14k gold earrings and that is all I wear in them (and I rarely change earrings). I took them out the other day and just now after putting them back in the holes have become super itchy to the point where that it is uncomfortable. Why is this happening? My mom sometimes borrows my earrings, could that be why?
Sorry, I meant 24k gold earrings.

You could be allergic to the gold metal used to make the earrings. You could have an ear infection. Wash ears with soap and water. Clean it with alcohol afterwards.
