Allergic reaction (possible anaphylaxis) after allergy TESTING?

Has anyone heard of someone having an allergic reaction after allergy TESTING? I went for follow-up testing after 3 years of shots and experienced an allergic reaction after leaving the office, about 20+ minutes after the final injection. I took Benadryl and was treated with an oral steroid and a bronchodilator breathing treatment. My testing results were very good and improved.

I had the standard raised bump reactions to each allergen, out of sixteen, 9 were zero the rest were 2 or less.

Testing was for

ANIMALS/MITES/INSECTS - reactions to D. Farinae/Cats/Dogs/Horses.

MOLDS - reaction to Botrytis, Candida Albicans and Penicillium.

CONTROLS - came out Negative 0 and Positive 3.

Timeline

DR was pleased. Left office, about 10 min later post nasal drip started, then nose running. Got quick breakfast at Burger King called DR; they said take an antihistamine right away. Popped some Benadryl and headed for DR office. Itching started and ears keep popping (this was the weirdest thing). Called DR again and said I was heading for ER. Iin the past; I've had anaphylaxis and carried an Epi pen. DR had me come in, gave the oral steroid and breathing treatment.

The strangest thing is, the past 4 months (I get shots monthly) I arrive for the shot healthy. After leaving, all my old allergy symptoms start appearing: runny nose, cough, post nasal drip. They continue almost until my next shot. We reduced the amount of serum, that didn't solve the problem. I thought it was an overdose of mold exposure, I'd been working and living in a moldy house and getting shots. This theory is now blown. The past year I’ve had bronchitis and/or pneumonia eleven times. The antibiotic would improve the problem until about a day or two before taking the last pill, and then the symptoms appeared again. I was on a variety of different antibiotics and inhalers. Finally, my DR put me on a sulfa drug which seemed to resolve the problem. I am no longer in daily contact with the house I was renovating (the previous owner had a dog, I have a cat).

I asked if it could be the carrier used to carry the serum. We are going to try shots without the 'hypoallergenic' carrier.

I began experiencing anaphylaxis (of unknown origin) about 30 years ago at the age of 30-something. The first was severe and I went to the ER. Fortunately, I’ve not had any quite that severe, though I’ve been to the ER several times during the first 20 years. The past ten, I stopped carrying my EPI pen, as I had no need for it. I managed to recognize what was happening and controlled the situation with Benadryl. It usually starts with itching; often my ear(s) will get red, hot and itch. It usually resolves with a Benadryl. If it doesn’t and the itching progresses, I take another. I know not to exceed 4. I’ve never had to go to the ER after taking 4.

My daughter (37) began experiencing anaphylaxis in her late teens, early 20’s. My granddaughter (3) had her first experience between 6 – 12 months; fortunately I recognized what was happening while watching her and we got her to the ER. I don’t think she has had any more. Both carry Epi pens.

Both my daughter and I did allergy elimination diets, removing possible causes from our diets, and kept food journals. There were no common foods or situations for either of us. Neither could replicate the problem.

I’m concerned the allergy shot reactions have not stopped and today’s response to follow-up testing. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading my post.

both my son & I went into anaphylaxis after having skin testing done

now we only get tests done by blood work

I had 5 series of shots over a 20 year span... the last 2 series I would pass out as soon as they gave me a shot. needing hours to come around after 3 IVs of Epi ..then from 5-10 days of 200mg Benadryl & 60 mg Predisone

.my cousin experiences the same thing since his 3 series of shots.. he passes out in the waiting room within 10 minutes..

I don't think they really work..my allergic reactions are more severe to the point I go into anaphylaxis within seconds on contact with allergies or IeG proteins in the air..

I have several other cousin who grew up with me...their allergies were as bad as mine..they never had the series..now they are still the same with reactions as they were as kids.

my first reaction was when I was 5 days old, from the soy in the formula they gave me...I can't count the reactions I have had since then...I am now 51

my son sees a Pulmonary/Allergist Specialist.who does blood tests only...every year to keep an eye on things

Allergies run in families...mostly in blonde hair blue eyed fair skinned family members

in 1999 I found out I was allergic to latex/rubber when I went to a new allergist who just got back from a conference on food crosses..bananas were one of my food allergies that sent him a red flag..so he had me blood tested & it came back positive & very severe...I worked as a dental assistant for 12 years.. in a large clinic in FL..I had a box of dried up exam gloves "explode" in my face due to being stored in the heat..I reacted severely that night, but they couldn't determine what the cause was since they didn't really know people were allergic to latex at that time.

I would stop having anymore shots... going into an anaphylaxis reaction is not healthy and can become deadly

my heart & kidneys start to shut down now when I react to things that used to just make me have a an anaphylaxis reaction..

5 years ago they did renal artery surgery., a 30 min procedure turned into a 4 hour one..they cleared an unknown substance out of both kidneys & down the artiness in both legs..

2 months later I had a perfect EKG & ECHO... 2 more severe reactions then I was rushed to an er..they found out I had 3 arteries 90% blocked with something, not plaque...I ended up with er triple by pass surgery...the surgeon was baffled when he dropped the arteries in a pan & they bounced...the lad did an exam & found they were blocked shut with latex...thankfully I feel better now,but still react to things, just not as intense, though I do go into anaphylaxis from some things.
