Is yahoo e mail account is really safe ? I have been getting spams from the emails of my contacts?

my contact list is also compromised & mass mailings are being sent in my name...arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

I had the same problem a month ago. Everyone on my Yahoo address book got spammed. Wasn't Viagra, some work-from-home scheme. I just copied the mailing list from the spam, send everyone an apology and then changed my password at Yahoo. That fixed it. Never happened again. I did run a virus scan and it didn't find any evidence of the worm. So this appears to be a "hit and run" worm which enters via email, sends the spam, and then erases itself. Very sophisticated.

Change your password.

This is often caused by a virus or malware. If you open one of the infected emails it infects your computer and starts spamming your contacts from your email account

You and the people you are receiving spam from all need to do the following or it will keep going around and around

1 - run a scan for viruses, malware and spyware. Use something like malwarebytes as a virus scan alone is not enough

2 - Delete your browsing history and cookies and empty your cache

3 - Restart your computer

4 - change your email password

OMG...You too?? I've been getting a lot of them and it's making me furious. What can we do about this?? lol...I've gotten the Viagra one too!!

I got a warning about my account being compromised so I changed my password, but it's still happening.

I'm having spam sent from my email address, yet my account does not seem ... I got alerted to this when one of my contacts responded to one of those ... Checked all my account settings thoroughly, and nothing had been changed. ... other account to begin with), but I closed my Yahoo! account just in case.

It has happened to several friends. After they changed passwords it stopped.

This happened to me too, that's what brought me to this site. I am selling medication also, for yeast infections. GAWD, help I don,tknow what to do.

accounts get hacked frequently because people are lousy at choosing passwords and/or fall victim to phishing...
