What Do You Think about Veolia Transit, First Transit and MV Transportation?

I was wondering if anyone have experiences with all three bus companies listed above? I am worried because Nassau County Bus System in Long Island, NY might contract this companies.

I am currently employed by one of these companies as a driver, and worked for one of the others for five years. All three companies are highly experienced and capable of providing top notch transit services. Some of the problems that all three are susceptible too come from the competitive bidding required to get these contracts. The one who wins the bid is the one willing to work for the narrowest margin. This can be at odds with providing excellent service, especially if it turns out the winner undercut the bid by too much.

A new contract also means a lot of new, unseasoned drivers and scheduling personnel. Be patient.

Another crap shoot is the management team put in by the company. Low bids can make attracting the best talent difficult. A compitent team is key. A lot also depends on the transit system that oversees the contract. Bad management on either end effects the rider to varying degrees.

All of these companies end up with nightmare contracts sometimes and the customer never wins in that situation. If you and your community end with bad transit service, I only ask that you try not to put all of the blame on the driver. Most of us do the best we can in sometimes challenging conditions. Good luck.
