2007 ninja 250 keeps dying EVERY time i stop?

i just bought a ninja 250 just as a cheap transportation bike and it runs fine but it idles WAY high or too low, i try to sit there and play with the knob to get it just right but it either idles at 4k rpm or 1k rpm and at 1k rpm it sounds like it wants to die, and once i get going and come to a red light, it dies! and i have to restart it every time i stop or let off the gas to slow down.

i guess it was setting for a few months in the guys garage and i have clean out the carbs and put carb cleaner in the gas and it still dies! so now im lost as to what to do next

any and all info will be greatly appreciated

Tweak it back down to were it idles at 1 grand and then turn it a quarter turn up. Kill the bike, start it up again, see where it idles after you give it a small drive (up the road) then if it is still doing the same thing repeat process a quarter turn at a time. They are very touchy

Most of the problem sounds like poor maintenance over-all.

Get a tune-up at a Shop if you can't do it yourself.

But at least buy and install a new air-filter and spark plug, lube and adjust the throttle cable.

Fresh high-pump fuel, a dash of carb-cleaner may work wonders

Sounds like it needs a good carb cleaning and adjustment.

Sounds to me such as you have a snatch it somewhat is a strategies out of adjustment....or you're no longer pulling in the lever. Its okay to provide up in kit, however the snatch must be thoroughly disengaged.
